Jasper County's top school district plus major employers
Cedar Ridge’s location, quiet atmosphere and suburban layout are the main reasons homes in this neighborhood sell in 16 days on average. For comparison, the US average is 44 days. “It’s close to big employers like [Freeman Hospital West], which is what a lot of people in that area are looking for,” says Wyatt Jones, a realtor with Charles Burt Realtors. “It’s also in the Carl Junction School district, which is pretty desirable.”
Brandy Venarjay, who has lived in Cedar Ridge for three years and owns Beekayprints, a custom print shop in the community, says she and her family settled down in Cedar Ridge for the prices and school district, but have also come to love the atmosphere.
“It’s quiet and away from all the crazy,” Venarjay says. “We have a neighborhood [Facebook] page where people are really helpful if you need it, but mostly everybody stays to themselves.”

1,800 square foot homes on 10,000 square foot lots
Ranch-style and modern traditional homes built in the early 2000s line the streets of Cedar Ridge. While they’re all similar in style and layout, each exterior is slightly different. Some are made of stone, some of brick and others of shingle.
“It’s just a really nice area,” Jones says. “All of the homes are well maintained. They have good-sized yards and mature trees.”
Narrow roads branch into short, paved driveways leading to attached garages. Many driveways feature in-ground basketball hoops, and sidewalks are rare. At about 1,8000 square feet on average, home sizes are on par with the national average of 1,900 square feet. Lots are about 10,000 square feet, so there’s some breathing between each property. Home prices start at about $200,000 and can climb to $350,000.

Two-mile drive to U.S. Route 66
Owning a car is essential in this community. Cedar Ridge’s secluded location makes for a quiet community, but it also means that residents have to drive to get everywhere. For some, such as Venarjay, it’s not a problem.
“It’s great because it’s away from all the traffic and noise, but everything is just a few minutes away,” she says.
A 2-mile drive up South Country Club Drive leads directly to U.S. Route 66—one of the busiest main streets in Joplin. South Main Street, which merges into Interstate 44, is about 4 miles east of Cedar Ridge. Freeman Hospital West is a major employer in the area and is about 3 miles east.
Flooding for some
Flooding is not a concern for most residents, although some homes which sit on hills may experience backyard flooding from time to time.
