South Joplin neighborhood near hospitals, elementary school
Stapleton is in the heart of Joplin's medical district and the sought-after Stapleton Elementary School boundary zone. On the far south end of town, patients and healthcare workers are near two major hospitals and Kansas City University's Joplin medical school campus, while kids are within walking distance of Joplin's highest-rated elementary school. Though bounded by two major thoroughfares, Stapleton is a quiet residential neighborhood with private, wooded lots. "It's not an HOA, but you have that more homey vibe of maybe you'll see kids playing in the street," says Corina Staton, Realtor with Epique Realty and a Joplin resident of 18 years.
Stapleton borders Main Street along it's western edge.

Midcentury homes on wooded lots
Stapleton is a heavily wooded area compared to Joplin's central neighborhoods, with private, half-acre lots. Midcentury ranch-style homes, bi-levels and small Minimal Traditional homes are set back from the street on grassy, shaded lawns. The southeast corner has a pocket of New Traditional homes offering more square footage and attached two-car garages. Limited data is available, but Stapleton homes have recently sold for around $240,000. Hilly streets and a lack of sidewalks pose a challenge for pedestrians. Interstate 44 may create some noticeable noise on the neighborhood's south end.
