Small town known for its festivals

Junction City offers buyers the chance to escape the busyness of city life. Known for its annual Scandinavian Festival, this tight-knit community has small-town vibes with locally owned shops and restaurants along its Main Street. There is a mix of established homes, farms and new construction here, offering fresh opportunities for those moving here. The town sits 15 miles north of Eugene, so it's perfect for those seeking a slower pace but wanting to stay close to the amenities and major employers of larger cities. “There’s a lot of charming midcentury homes, but the new construction makes it so there’s something for everyone here,” says Realtor Bryn Cook, who has been with Eugene’s CTD Realty for nearly a decade.

New construction brings fresh life to Junction City

The longstanding community offers a mix of established ramblers and Craftsmans built between the 1920s and 1940s and a wealth of new construction. These newly constructed homes that are expanding the city's reach are typically built in contemporary Craftsman style and feature upscale amenities. Farmland surrounds Junction City, and farms and estates with acreage are available for those seeking land. Established homes cost around $400,000, new builds cost around $600,000 and estates cost approximately $1 million.

Community events are the heart of Junction City

The community is most well-known for its annual Scandinavian Festival. Every August since 1961, this community festival has drawn residents and visitors from across the country to enjoy traditional Scandinavian foods, costumes, folk dance, and craft goods. Another favorite is the Daffodil Drive Festival, which occurs in mid-March. The event features a 6-mile driving route surrounded by millions of bright daffodils. Car enthusiasts will enjoy the Function 4 Junction festival, a classic car show held every June.

Getting around the Junction City area

Highway 99 runs through Junction City, which connects residents to communities and attractions throughout the state. Cars are necessary here, but two bus stops in the town help residents who need public transportation. Residents are just 14 miles north of Eugene and Springfield, home to more dining, retail and entertainment. For residents seeking access to Portland, they can either take the 101 or connect to Interstate 5. Either way, Portland and the Portland International Airport are about 100 miles from the community or about an hour and 45-minute drive. Convenient access to Eugene and the surrounding area makes living in a small town easy.
