Riverside on Loxahatchee straddles Tequesta and Jupiter
Riverside on Loxahatchee—often simply called “Riverside”—is a coastal Palm Beach County community where multimillion-dollar mansions share roads with modest single-story homes. “It's more of just a general area surrounding Riverside Drive than a neighborhood," says local broker Mark Eble of Water Pointe Realty Group. "We don't really call this particular strip of homes anything other than the waterfront homes between Jupiter and Tequesta. The larger estates are often owned by golf superstars.” Riverside hugs the Loxahatchee River, where manatees glide beneath turquoise waters and wood storks wade along banks, all framed by the red Jupiter Lighthouse visible to the east. Stretching between Jupiter’s inlet and Tequesta’s quieter charms, the Intracoastal Waterway threads past waterfront dining spots and boutique shopping districts. Days here lean into the warm climate, whether spent kayaking to the Jupiter Inlet or savoring sunset views over the river.
Waterfront mansions and inland ranch-style homes
Custom-built contemporary and Spanish-style mansions are set directly on the Loxahatchee River, typically commanding prices starting at around $5 million and maxing at around $8 million. Most of these estates feature five-bedrooms, private boat ramps and piers. In contrast, set North of Riverside Drive (away from the water) are comparatively smaller 1960s and ‘70s ranch-style homes with between three and four bedrooms, priced from $650,000 to $850,000.
Science career pathways at Jupiter High
Kids can start school at Jupiter Elementary, which earns a B from Niche, then continue to the A-minus rated Jupiter Middle School. At the A-rated Jupiter High, students can enroll in over 30 Advance Placement classes alongside engineering, environmental, medical and criminal justice academies. Jupiter High’s Environmental Science Academy teaches students about ecology, green biology, geology and more.
Water sports, workshops, and birdwatching
Set two miles from Riverside, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area anchors the region’s heritage as a 120-acre preserve housing Palm Beach County’s oldest structure. Visitors hike trails through coastal scrub and mangroves or join guided tours exploring Seminole history and World War II. Within the neighborhood, the Riverside Community Center offers fitness classes, while Tequesta’s modern Tequesta Recreation Center provides residents with public access to basketball courts, wellness workshops and multipurpose rooms. Nature enthusiasts visit the Jackson Riverfront Pines Natural Area along the Loxahatchee for unpaved trails ideal for birdwatching and peaceful walks.
Dinner and views of the Intracoastal Waterway
Publix Super Market at Countyline Plaza is about two miles from Riverside, while 1000 North elevates waterfront dining with its upscale American cuisine, marina views and club lounge. Seafood enthusiasts frequent Pinder’s Seafood & Marketplace, a family-owned restaurant that’s been around since 1965 offering fresh catche. ROMEO-N-Juliette’s Caffe offers authentic Italian fare with house-made pasta and a cozy atmosphere. For retail, The Shoppes at Jupiter, set two miles away, blends shopping and dining with anchors like Bealls Florida and Sal’s Italian Ristorante.
US 1 bridge leads across the water
Waterfront homes benefit from the US 1 (A1A) fixed bridge, allowing direct boating access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Jupiter Inlet without delays from movable bridges. For drivers, Riverside Drive connects seamlessly to Highway 1 and Interstate 95 in about 10 miles, providing quick routes to Jupiter’s beaches, and West Palm Beach in 20 miles. Public transit includes Palm Tran Route 40 near Loxahatchee Groves, though reaching regional destinations often requires transfers via Route 62 at Lake Worth Train Station. HCA Florida Palms West Hospital is about 12 miles away, while Palm Beach International Airport is about 20 miles away.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
