"There is a section of Knollwood where people are using them as rental homes. Student homes, student housing," says Realtor Suzanne Sloan of Five Star Real Estate. Condos with community amenities like pools and tennis courts start at $115,000 in the neighborhood, while Colonial-style homes begin at $220,000. There are many newly constructed townhomes with three bedrooms and two-car garages priced around $400,000. Duplex homes cost approximately $570,000. Minimal traditional-style homes start at $150,000, and contemporary multifamily homes are available for $302,000. Larger multifamily houses can exceed $1 million. The median price of homes is $111,250. Despite the different housing styles, inventory in Knollwood is low, similar to Kalamazoo overall, says Sloan. "We haven't seen that stereotypical balanced market of six months of inventory. I've been in business for 17 years, other than during the recession. Students can attend Woodward School for Technology and Research for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, which has a C rating from Niche. For grades six through grade eight, students can go to Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts educates students which has a B rating from Niche. Students can then attend Loy Norrix High School, rated B-plus. The Career Launch Kalamazoo program allows high school juniors and seniors to gain paid on-the-job training, industry certifications, and college credit, preparing them for future careers. Private school options include Heritage Christian Academy, which teaches pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and has a B-plus Niche rating.Many students attend Western Michigan University after graduation. The school offers popular majors, including interdisciplinary studies, finance, accounting, marketing, and nursing.

Knollwood is well-connected, with easy access to Interstate Highway 94 and US Route 131. The neighborhood is just a 3.5-mile drive to downtown Kalamazoo.
