Riverview
American Foursquares and bungalows are common in Riverview
Riverview's loosely gridded streets boast a medley of home styles alongside small apartment complexes. Common frameworks include American Foursquares and smaller bungalows, though more contemporary builds are also present. Smaller 1,500-square-foot homes often price between $100,000 and $200,000 while larger properties with four or more bedrooms tend to top out closer to $300,000. Riverview's housing market is slightly more competitive than the nation average with many homes selling within four to six weeks of their listing.Basketball reigns supreme at Wyandotte High
Riverview is not known for its strong schools. Students are served by the Kansas City School District. Children may go to M.E. Pearson Elementary School, which earns an overall grade of C-minus from Niche, and advance to the D-plus-graded Central Middle School. Teens can attend Wyandotte High School off Minnesota Avenue. Earning a Niche grade of C, the high school offers a highly competitive athletics program that has won a whopping 20 state championships in boy's basketball. The school's safety has recently become a concern, though additional security measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of its students.Locals enjoy the outdoors at Big Eleven Lake and St. John's Dog Park
Riverview residents aren't far from community parks and notable attractions. Locals can picnic or walk around Big Eleven Lake at the neighborhood's northside or gather at Waterway Park's playground for playdates. Athletes can also play basketball indoors at Bethany Community Center. Pet parents take their canine companions to St. John's Dog Park for views of the other Kansas City across the river. On the corner of 7th Street and Ann Avenue, locals can also try their luck at 7th Street Casino following an afternoon at the neighboring Huron Park. Children's Campus of Kansas City sits just a couple blocks over from the park. Opened in 2010, the Children's Campus offers family support services and houses not-for-profit community organizations including Project Eagle and Juniper Gardens Children’s Project.Slap's BBQ is a must-try on Central Avenue
Kansas City is filled with revered eateries, and Riverview residents are in proximity to many of them. Slap's BBQ on Central Avenue is a town staple for its ribs, brisket and specialty sandwiches. Slap's has been serving Kansas City since 2014 and regularly competes in the Kansas City Barbeque Society circuit. El Camino Real is another neighborhood favorite for Mexican cuisine. Additional restaurants can be found toward the northside on Minnesota Avenue, which is also lined with small shops and stores. The Merc Co+op is a top spot for locals to gather groceries for a home-cooked meal.Locals hop on the RideKC for quick trips
Riverview is walkable, though a car is recommended for longer excursions. Locals have solid access to I-70 — a major east-west highway that guides locals across the river to Missouri and throughout the Midwest. The RideKC bus also comes in handy for many Riverview residents with numerous stops along 7th Street and Minnesota Avenue.
