Holmes Park is quaintly walkable
Anchored by a green space bearing its name, Holmes Park is a tiny L-shaped enclave 10 minutes from downtown Kansas City. Residents live within stride of amenities either at the center or edges of the neighborhood, including a YMCA and Medical Center Brookside Campus. “My clients love the walkability to local restaurants, grocery stores and parks. It’s like living in a little English Village that has all the amenities of a big town,” says Realtor Edward Stephens. “It’s also incredibly welcoming. I showed a house here where a neighbor stopped by to chat with my client about local restaurants and events. They spoke for nearly 10 minutes like old friends.” Stephens specializes in the Kansas City area and works for ReeceNichols Real Estate.
Properties in Holmes Park have historic details
"Locals have a special appreciation for the architecture in this community. Because the homes were built in the 30s and 40s, they’re enriched with historic details often lacking in modern suburbs,” Stephens shares. Some streets have solid rows of Tudor-style, Colonial-Revival and ranch-style homes. On others, bungalows and Cape Cods mingle with these styles, creating a peppered schema. Criss-cross windows, brick chimneys bisecting facades, winding front pathways and asymmetrical A-frame roofs give some properties a cottage look. On average, homes range in price from the mid 200,000s and the high $300,000s and sell within 31 days. One of the most expensive properties, valued in the $400,000s, was a refinished split-level. During spring and summer, mature trees fill the air with leaves. Roads here express a bit of wear, having a well-travelled feeling.
