Maple Park combines amusement park access with suburbia
On Worlds of Fun’s opening day in 1973, the Maple Park water tower was painted to resemble the amusement park’s hot air balloon logo. Today, many houses in this Kansas City neighborhood boast a clear view of the multi-colored Missouri landmark, reminding you of the 64 rollercoasters and rides located only about a mile away. While the presence of a huge theme park undoubtedly serves as Maple Park's dominant feature, there is more to discover in the nooks and crannies of this neighborhood, including some great potential deals on real estate.

Spacious homes and relatively affordable pricing
Maple Park is “the one area where you can get a 4,000-square-foot home for a good price,” Keller Williams Realtor and team leader Ron Henderson says. The median home price in Maple Park is $150,000, below the state average of $200,000. Huddled beneath the 2.8-million-gallon water tower are ranch-style houses – some single-story while others are raised – with garages underneath. You may also see an occasional classical-style home or a Craftsman with a side-gabled roof. Houses here often have brick facades, windows with shutters and backyards heavily forested with those namesake maple trees.

Children in Maple Park can spend their summer at Worlds of Fun. Whether you want to dangle upside down from the Patriot or rapidly drop down the Mamba, there is a roller coaster for every type of thrill-seeker. Younger kids can also enjoy calmer rides and meet their favorite characters from the Peanuts Gang at Planet Snoopy. A greenway connects to additional recreation options
The 177-acre Searcy Creek Greenway weaves throughout the neighborhood. While the park includes a short, paved walking trail and a new playground, most of it is empty green space. However, the Searcy Creek Greenway Masterplan hopes to expand the existing playground and add a fruit tree orchard, an outdoor classroom and a butterfly garden to the expansive area. The greenway is also connected to nearby Hidden Valley Park. Just 2 miles away, you can bring your frisbee to the 9-hole flying disc course, admire the native plants in the rain garden or go for a run around the nature trail.
