Nature and city access blend in Northlake Terrace
The Northlake Terrace neighborhood, part of the city of Kenmore, became a city as recently as 1998. It can be found near where Lake Washington and the Sammamish River merge. There are plenty of trees and greenery across the area, with trees that are often taller than the buildings. “We have a lot of wildlife, you see eagles and always see something different every day,” says resident Eva Szorenyi with Realogics Soetheby’s International Realty. “It is so beautiful every day, and it is never the same thing.” Another perk, living in Northlake Terrace, you are only 14 miles away from downtown Seattle, and just another 47 miles from Tacoma.

The prices on these homes range from around $650,000 and go as high as the $2 million range. Parks, trails and water recreation define outdoor life here
Nature and recreation are bonuses of the Kenmore and Northlake Terrace lifestyle. There are many parks across the area, including Log Boom Park, which was recently developed and has a big hut to barbeque, and trails for bicyclists and walkers to explore. “The community association recently had a bunch of volunteers help prepare the park for winter,” Szorenyi says. “That shows just how tight knit of a community this is.” Outdoor enthusiasts will want to visit Wallace Swamp Creek Park, a minimally developed space with wooded areas, walking paths, trails and about 25 acres of open space. Additionally, Swamp Creek runs through the middle of the park.
Being so close to Lake Washington and the Sammamish River, water recreation activities are a mainstay in the community. The Kenmore boathouse offers opportunities for everyone to get out on the water, via kayaks, canoes and other forms of transportation, per the Kenmore Boat Launch. You can water ski, fish, swim or just hang out on the water. “The neighborhood has spectacular views; you can see the mountains, the water, hear the seaplanes flying overhead. It’s kind of a hidden gem, people don’t really know about,” says Szorenyi. “I have lived all over Seattle, but I just love it here, I really do.”
