Convenient coastal homes
Homes are a mixture of single and multi-family dwellings. These houses are closer together, allowing for smaller yard space. Some homes may carry a driveway or a detached garage, but it’ll mostly hold two cars. These are mostly older properties with homes built before the 20th century, mixing between ranches, Cape Cods, and some Victorian folk homes. Interiors carry between two -to three bedrooms and typically don’t exceed 1,500 square feet. Prices here are more budget-friendly, ranging from $150,000 to $300,000.Lake Michigan and beyond
Harbor Side residents benefit from having three shoreline parks in their backyard. Pennoyer Park is the most northern park. This 39-acre park is an evening getaway. Take the dog out along the beach or let the kids loose on the playground. Tennis and pickleball enthusiasts will appreciate the courts nearby. This park also has a beach area. Kennedy Park sits just underneath Pennoyer Park at 23 acres. This park also carries a playground for the kiddos. Baseball and football fields also fill the area for those looking for another competitive game. The Pike Bike Trail, a 10-mile trail along the Lake Michigan shore, connects these parks. Simmons Island Park is a popular spot for those who love water activities. Take a dip in the shallow waters or walk along the smooth sands. Folks can also gather their boats along the shores.Lakeside learning
Students can start their education in the Kenosha United School District. Grades kindergarten through fifth grade can be completed at Grant Elementary. This school has a C on Niche. Washington Middle School carries the same rate on Niche. This school has been educating Kenosha students for over a century, offering student enrichment through their sports and clubs, fine arts program and field trips. After school, students can enroll in their award-winning theater arts program or their advanced athletics.Concerts, kites and more in Kenosha
The three parks also serve as spaces for many Kenosha events. “Pennoyer Park has the Sesquicentennial Bandshell,” says Visit Kenosha’s public relations director, Meridith Jumisko. “Live music takes place here with Tuesdays At The Shell and the Kenosha Pops on Wednesdays during the summer. The Peacetree Music Festival is held at the Bandshell in August.” Kites of all colors fill the sky of Kennedy Park at the annual Outta Site Kite Flight held in June. More than 300 kites launch their colors at noon on the first day. The kiddos can enjoy kite making and decoration. Then, there’s all day flying lessons and contests. Runners can be found going up and down the lakeshore during the Wisconsin Marathon in May. Kenosha History Center and the Southport Light Station Museum are on Simmons Island. Kenosha History Center takes goers through the history of Kenosha Country, from its early settlement to the auto-making business shaping the area. The Southport Light Station Museum is a seasonal place open from May through October. This museum carries artifacts and information about Kenosha’s harbor history.Groceries and grub
After-work gatherings and evening dinners are easy endeavors as Harbor Side restaurants cater to most pallets. A city favorite is The Coffee Pot restaurant, which serves as a diner and hotel. This staple serves American breakfast and lunch classics; however, most residents are drawn to the corned beef hash. Boat House Pub & Eatery is a popular restaurant along the shore. Seafood, prime rib, and appetizers are the neighborhood draw. Pick n’ Save, the local grocer, is located 3 miles northwest. Walmart Supercenter and Sam’s Club are 4 miles west.
