Winding suburban streets and a quiet atmosphere provide residents of Jamestown with separation from the noise that can come with urban living in neighborhoods closer to downtown Chicago. The neighborhood is located 64 miles north of Chicago’s city center and just over 2 miles from Lake Michigan’s western shores. On Kenosha’s west end, just north of the Illinois-Wisconsin Border, residents are just a short drive from the amenities and atmosphere of downtown Kenosha.
From traditional homes to modern builds
The small neighborhood of Jamestown features a variety of cottages, Colonial Revivals and split-level homes. Most of the area’s houses were built in the 1990s and early 2000s, with some newer homes popping up in the neighborhood’s western region. Most houses sit close together on quarter-acre lots, with larger wooded properties being featured with Jamestown’s older homes on 45th street. The average home price here is $320,000, but small, 1,000-square-foot ranch-style homes can be listed for under $200,000. The high end of the market is home to four-bedroom modern traditional homes with around 2,500 square feet.

Mahone Middle School serves around 1,000 local learners, and provides its students with elective offerings like career exploration, photography and computer literacy. After graduating from the eighth grade, students can head down the road to Bradford High School, which earns a B-minus overall Niche grade and receives above-average rankings in the categories of diversity and college prep. Traveling south along 30th Avenue will take you to Gateway Technical College. The first publicly funded technical school in the United States, Gateway hosts a wealth of technical and career education programs, including carpentry, early childhood education, graphic design and radiology.
Stocker Elementary School is a Pre-K to 5th grade school in the Jamestown area.
Bradford High School has been educating Hillcrest Students since 1849 in the Jamestown area.

Jamestown Park is located in the neighborhood’s center, so local families are only a short walk from a playground.
