Downtown Kernersville
Single-family suburban houses
On the back streets of Downtown Kernersville is a mix of housing from the latter half of the 20th century. Homebuyers will find many three-bedroom bungalows and ranch-style homes priced between $100,000 and $200,000. New Traditional-style brick construction along the outskirts of town to accommodate the area's newfound growth is priced higher, from $250,000 to $400,000. "The housing market is rapidly growing," Klutz says. "There's been a few subdivisions added recently." Homes tend to sell quickly and last about three weeks on the market. A railroad track runs through the neighborhood along West Bodenhamer Street Graves Street, so homebuyers sensitive to noise should be aware.

Greenspaces that host community events
Among the area's numerous parks is Fourth of July Park, which reigns as the queen bee of events and community gatherings. Most notably, the park is host to the annual Honeybee Festival. In 1973, Kernersville local Brady Mullinax helped enlist the honeybee as North Carolina's state insect. Today, residents enjoy a variety of festivities, including live music and children's activities, along with nearly 100 vendors. Attendees will discover a wide selection of handcrafted goods and, of course, an abundance of local honey to purchase. The park remains a hit outside the festival with many additional events, including 5K races and a Fourth of July fireworks show. Another popular park that residents enjoy is the 33-acre Civitan Park, which features a playground, a basketball court, a lighted softball field, a community garden and tennis and pickleball courts. Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden hosts yoga in the garden, craft fairs and concerts. Both parks and the botanical garden are within walking distance for residents.Local restaurants and big-box retail
Locals swarm over to East Mountain Street to the vibrant Kernersville Farmers Market every Wednesday and Saturday, where local vendors, bakers and cheese artisans come together to sell their wares. Folks restock the pantry at Lowes Foods on Market View Drive. Over the railroad tracks and into the heart of the small downtown area are attached red-brick buildings that house several locally owned coffee shops, breweries and restaurants. Kyle's Coffee has been deemed the "Best Coffee in Forsyth County" and is known for its warm, signature cups of joe. For a drink with more of a kick, people check out Kernersville Brewing Company. The Deli on Main is within walking distance of the brewery. Its hours are short, but the demand for its traditional subs and sandwiches is high. People top their day off with a sweet treat from Doss' Old Fashion Ice Cream and Grill, a nearly 40-year-old business that has thousands of raving reviews for its creamy treats. On the west side of town, there is a Target, a Walmart and a Maurices.Entertainment options including a movie theater and professional sports
