Sandy adventures, skating and outdoor festivals

After a long week, head over to Marina Park for a relaxing afternoon on the sandy shores of Lake Washington. As one of the many waterfront parks in the area, this outdoor green space features walking trails ideal for a morning jog, a pavilion area suitable for a bagged lunch and grassy areas to relax with a good book. Every Julu, Marina Park hosts the Kirkland Uncorked Summerfest featuring live music, wine tasting and more. Residents are also minutes away from the Cross Kirkland Corridor, an expansive nearly 6-mile trail that leads to the heart of the city. On Lake Street, David Brink Park also provides great lake views, with a dock and resting benches. On the northern side of Moss Bay is the expansive Peter Kirk Park. A hub for recreation spaces, this park has several athletic courts and fields, a seasonal pool and a skatepark with rails and mini ramps. The park is also home to the Peter Kirk Community Center, which features multi-purpose rooms and meeting areas for community events or parties.

Public schools in the area are part of the Lake Washington School District. Many children living in Moss Bay will start at Lakeview Elementary School, which has a history of above-average English Language Arts and Math scores. After Lakeview, students attend Kirkland Middle School, home of the Panthers.
