The neighborhood of Mill Slough is a reminder that Kissimmee offers more than just proximity to Disney World. “It’s one of the city’s older neighborhoods. It’s very quiet and family-oriented,” says Julio Salgado, a Realtor with Re/MAX Premier Properties who has been serving Orlando and its southern suburbs for 15 years. “Lots of residents in this neighborhood have been here for a while – 15, 20, sometimes 30 years.” That means several of them have been witness to Kissimmee’s continued evolution from a vacation hot spot to an appealing residential destination.

Traditional ranch-style homes anchor the neighborhood's mix of housing
Mill Slough’s traditional single-family homes are mostly ranch-style options with driveways, attached garages and spacious yards. These homes, built primarily between the late 1970s and the 1980s, mingle with a mix of contemporary custom homes. Prices typically range from the low $200,000s to the mid-$400,000s. The average home cost about $335,000. Lower taxes in Osceola County compared to Orange County provide relative affordability compared to neighboring Orlando. One of the benefits of living in this area of Kissimmee is that there are no HOAs, so homeowners enjoy residential freedom. One-bedroom manufactured homes starting in the $15,000 range offer a cheap and cozy alternative.
