Storey Lake
Luxury vacation homes and long-term villas
Three large lakes surrounded by mature oaks and towering palms lead to the gated Storey Lake. Five colored boxes greet newcomers at the entrance with pictures of a cyclist, a home, a book, a leaf and two clasped hands forming a heart representing Story Lake’s pillars: health, home, nature, story and community. Quiet and well-manicured suburban streets have whimsical names like “Seven Dwarfs Lane,” “Princess Way,” and “King’s Castle Circle.” Storey Lake offers diverse architectural styles, from Spanish and Mediterranean-style houses to coastal contemporary homes, townhouses and condos. “The homes are very modern,” says Donovan. “I think the size of the house and the price point is part of it, too. You’ve got 4,000-square-foot homes with 10 bedrooms for around $800,000. There aren’t many other places you can find a house for that.” Most single-family homes were built in the mid-2010s, but new construction is happening in the Cypress Cay subdivision. Single-family houses range from approximately $460,000 for a three bedrooms measuring 1,700 square feet to more than $1 million for a lakefront property or a 15-bedroom vacation home about 6,000 square feet. Most four- and five-bedroom, single-family homes top out around $600,000. Condos in the gated Club Cortile subdivision start in the mid $200,000s for three bedrooms, and four- to six-bedroom condos in the Terraces subdivision are priced around $400,000. Coral Cay Resort subdivision offers four-bedroom townhouses in a pastel-pink building for about $300,000, and the Cove at Storey Lake offers four-bedroom townhouses in the mid-$600,000s. Monthly homeowners’ association fees are $276 for townhouses that come with private splash pools. Monthly HOA fees for condos are $620. Single-family-home HOA fees depend on the subdivision, but range from $103 monthly to $250 for larger, multi-bedroom homes. With 174 homes sold in July 2024, the market for homes is hot, which Donovan says isn’t only coming from Florida natives and snowbirds. “When I started, it was mainly Europeans, but now it attracts a lot of buyers from Brazil, different parts of South America, and all around the world,” he says. Storey Lake homes come with multicar garages, spacious driveways for boats or other toys and resort-style backyards with large pools and verandas. Most lot sizes are over 7,000 square feet, but many stretch over a quarter-acre, allowing plenty of room for entertaining, gardening or custom landscaping. Besides luxury homes, Storey Lake is overflowing with amenities. The community offers three resort-style pools with waterslides and a splash pad, a lazy river, a fitness center and a clubhouse with a tiki bar. “There’s a pool and a clubhouse within each section,” says Donovan. Residents can also enjoy mini golf on the premises or the ice cream shop. There's a free golf cart shuttle service that takes residents from their homes to the clubhouses and other places within the community. Property management companies also provide full-service maintenance.A stone's throw from Disney theme parks
