Knoxville’s home to ranch styles and mansions
The housing market is one of the biggest draws to Concord, and many homes here are sold within 30 days of their market listings. There are newly constructed Colonial Revivals as well as some older Craftsman and ranch-style homes from the ‘70s and ‘80s scattered around. The range of prices and styles is vast, as houses can be as small as two- and three-bedroom ranch styles for $220,000 or as large and luxurious as six-bedroom Colonial Revivals with Victorian accents for over $1,500,000.Fun around Fort Loudon Lake
Concord Park is the neighborhood's centerpiece and consists of three peninsulas connected in the middle to form a colossal parkland surrounded by Fort Loudoun Lake. The park offers more than 500 acres of green space filled with 10 miles of trails and two marinas. For athletes, the park also provides two softball fields, a soccer field, a dog park, a skate park and a golf course. Due to all the activities, it “tends to stay pretty packed, especially in the warmer months,” according to Nikki Faulker, a recreation assistant with the Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department who has served the area since 2022. Another popular park on the area's southern end is Carl Cowan Park, which offers similar amenities to Concord Park as well as a water feature for kids.Award-winning Knox County schools
Students in Concord are served by Knox County schools. Children often start at Northshore Elementary, which receives an A-minus on Niche and was designated a “Reward School” in 2021 by the state education department for student academic achievement. They can then move on to West Valley Middle School, which also receives an A-minus rating. The B-plus-rated Bearden High School is the last stop for students and was on Niche’s list of 2022 best high schools. The school also provides 49 different clubs and organizations for students to choose from, including sign language and wrestling.Year-round fun at Concord Park
The parks are the central spot for local events in the Farragut area. To many residents, the primary event is the Annual Holiday Festival of Lights at Concord Park. This month-long event offers story time with Santa, train rides through the park, cookies and an illuminated three-quarter-mile greenway trail with lights. The park also hosts summer concerts yearly so families can relax and dance on the grass by the water.Knoxville’s most walkable area
This area is “one of the most walkable areas in Knoxville,” according to Weiler. This is due to the many greenways and walking paths around the neighborhood, making walking to the lake or park a common occurrence. South Northshore Drive and Concord Road are the main roads in the area and offer quick access to Interstate 40 and Pellissippi Parkway. Parkwest Medical Center is a 9-mile drive just off I-40 for medical care. For travel, McGhee Tyson Airport is a 12-mile drive to the east.Tasty local Knoxville chains
Concord is a commuter neighborhood, so many restaurants and retailers are a short drive away. Residents can head to the local chain Calhoun’s for some famous Tennessee BBQ or drive a little farther down Kingston Pike to Sami’s Café for a popular brunch spot. Many restaurants, such as Chesapeake's Seafood Restaurant, are also available on Parkside Drive for fresh regional seafood. For groceries, the Northshore Town Center on the southeastern side of the neighborhood offers a Target and a Publix for residents.
Fort Loudon Lake Safety
While locals spend much time on the lake, they must still be careful. Flooding from the lake can be a problem for many waterfront homes, and parts of the lake are polluted with microbes.
