It's not just for golfers
Whether known to locals as Wildcat, The Wildcat or the more formal The Greens at Wildcat, one thing is certain about this neighborhood on Kokomo’s southern edge: people want to live there. With Wildcat Creek Golf Course as the backdrop, Wildcat is one of the city’s most in-demand high-end neighborhoods. “When people are looking to buy, it’s usually not because of the golf course,” says Cyndi Dieterman, agent with The Key Group. “It’s because the houses are nice. It’s a beautiful community.”

Spacious golf course homes and condos
Many Wildcat residents live in comfortable contemporary custom houses. “They’re massive,” Dieterman says. “You’re going to have two stories with a basement on half-acre or more lots.” Houses in the neighborhood range between $255,000 and $475,000, with about half of the homes lined along the 18 holes of Wildcat Creek Golf Course. In the western part of the neighborhood, there are also condos exceeding 1,500 square feet that range from $230,000 to around $350,000.

A newly renovated course
Wildcat Creek was already considered Kokomo’s top public course before a 2024 renovation that added two ponds to the back nine, reconstructed the bunkers and transformed a run-of-the mill par-5 into a par-4 that is now the toughest hole on the course. For players looking for lessons or just to work on their game, there is also a driving range, two putting greens and short-game area. Jackson Morrow Park, Kokomo’s largest at 100 acres, is kitty-corner from Wildcat. Morrow Park features wooded trails, an indoor nature center, playgrounds, sand volleyball courts and a skate park.
The Wildcat Creek Golf Course has weekday leagues for residents to join in.
The Wildcat Creek Golf Course is regarded the nicest public coarse in town.

Located in Western School Corporation
Wildcat is in the Western School Corporation. All four schools in the district are on the same campus outside of Russiaville, which is 6 miles of rural highway west of Wildcat. Students begin at K-2 Western Primary School, which earns a B-rating on Niche. They move on to B-plus rated Western Intermediate School for Grades 3-5 before attending A-minus rated Western Middle School. B-plus rated Western High is an Indiana power in several activities. The Panthers marching band has won 19 state championships over the decades. Western also won the Class 3A state wrestling championship in 2019 and 2023 and the state softball title in 2024. For a closer option, Saints Joan of Arc and Patrick School, a K-8 Catholic school, is directly adjacent to the neighborhood on the campus of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. The school is unrated on Niche.

GolfUp, Roarry's new neighborhood additions
GolfUp 31 is the newest addition to the Wildcat Golf Course – a downsized version of Top Golf where players can track their shots from one of 12 driving bays with the same Top Tracer technology used by PGA Tour pros. “Even if it’s raining or snowing, you’ll have that available,” says Harley Pugh, director at Wildcat Creek. Roarry’s, a sports bar and grill, is also part of the GolfUp 31 complex. Popular Kokomo restaurants a short drive from the neighborhood include Half Moon Restaurant and Brewery, Missy’s, and Stoney’s Sourdough Pizza Co. The nearest grocery stores are Sunspot Natural Market and Kroger.

Not far from farm country
Cars are a necessity for reaching the rest of Kokomo from this neighborhood, which quickly gives way to the farm fields of rural Howard County when heading south or west. Wildcat is a 6-mile trip from Downtown Kokomo via Park Road or Washington Street. Downtown Indianapolis is about 50 miles south of the neighborhood on U.S. Route 31.
Concert, golf tourneys among top events
Wildcat Creek offers weekly men’s leagues, ladies leagues and couples leagues in addition to regular play. Major course tournaments include the Big Kat Open in early June, the club championship in August, and a Ryder Cup-style team event in September. In recent years, the course has also added a summer concert on the driving range, drawing more than 600 concertgoers to the shows.

GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
