Lower Northside is a convenient part of town along the Black River
Located along the Black River, Lower Northside is convenient to shopping, dining and recreation signature of La Crosse while having its own local charms. "It's easy access if you want to do a day trip to bigger cities or for more shopping. But you have your needs met here and you're not overwhelmed with the congestion," says Realtor Karla Frank, a longtime resident who works for Bi-State Realty & Appraisals. She describes the community as a big family that bonds over comfort food, sports, fishing and boating along the Black River. Locals are also just a short drive from La Crosse's trails and scenic bluffs.

Older homes in Northside than in Southside

"The north side of La Crosse has the older neighborhoods compared to the south side," Frank says. "There are investment properties around, but even so, they don't disrupt the neighborhood." Minimal traditional styles are common, but Queen Annes, Tudor Revivals and American Foursquares still have a foothold. Prices range from $79,000 to $119,000 for investment properties and small homes, while larger and more updated options go for $135,000 to $329,000.
