The homes in Weigent-Hogan are both stylistically varied and extremely well-preserved, with late 19th and early 20th-century houses the norm. The neighborhood displays La Crosse's interesting architectural roots, from renovated Victorians to classic bungalows and Tudor cottages. "This town got its start from lumber mills and architects. Many of the homes built at the turn of the century are still standing strong," Stacey says. "The historic homes have a lot of the original charm and character because each time they change hands, there's even more effort put into upkeep." Smaller properties and ones that need a good amount of renovation can sell between $160,000 and $250,000. Large historic homes and completely remodeled properties sell for $280,000 to $500,000.

Exploring the vibrant local businesses in downtown La Crosse
Weigent-Hogan being so close to downtown means being close to the heart of La Crosse's personality. "Historic downtown has gotten a big facelift in recent years and makes good use of all the cool old brick buildings," Stacey says. "Franchises could be nice, but the whole appeal is that it's all mom and pop shops. There are some really great restaurants and a thriving bar scene because of the college crowds." Patrons browse local artwork at River City Gallery and pick up vinyl at Deaf Ear Record Exchange. Food options are diverse, from the French dishes at Lovechild to the pub fare at The Crow. For everyday errands, the closest retail area, including a Walmart Supercenter, Aldi and Walgreens, is 4 miles south near Mormon Coulee Road.

Popular seasonal city events near Weigent-Hogan
Weigent-Hogan has front-row seats to the area's most well-attended events without being right in the thick of the crowds. In the summer, Riverside Park gets packed with people attending Riverfest, the city's annual Fourth of July celebration. As the heat fades during autumn, La Crosse welcomes Oktoberfest, running from the end of September into the start of October. As of 2025, it's one of the Midwest's largest and longest-running Oktoberfest celebrations.
Nearby education with the La Crosse School District
The neighborhood falls under the La Crosse School District, and kids can start at Emerson Elementary School before heading to Logan Middle School and Logan High School. All schools get a B from Niche. Housed in the same building as Logan Middle School, the School of Technology and Arts II receives a B-plus from Niche. As a charter school, the SOTA II is free for kids to attend, but their parents must apply through the school district. Weigent-Hogan is next door to Viterbo University, a private Catholic institution that offers undergraduate and graduate programs.

Daily visits to Weigent Park and hiking at Granddad Bluff
There are a couple of green spaces in and around the neighborhood, with Weigent Park being a go-to for most residents. It features a playground, tennis court, softball field and plenty of open space where locals frequently set up goal nets for soccer games. "Just to the east, we have bluffs, which are basically small mountains. Pretty much everyone goes to visit Grandad Bluff for hiking and mountain biking, which has gotten popular around town," Stacey says. "Between the bluffs and everything you can do on the river, recreation is pretty spectacular here."

Easy commuting via car or bus
Less than 2 miles from downtown La Crosse, Weigent-Hogan's residents have immediate access to some of the city's major routes and public transportation. Nearly every main road in the neighborhood, such as Market and Cass streets, has several stops for the Municipal Transit buses. Highways 35 and 33 run along Weigent-Hogan's west and south sides, respectively, making for quick commuting. The Mayo Clinic Health System and several medical plazas are next door in neighboring Washburn.
