Private, luxury living in the Coachella Valley
Sheltered behind tall hedges and palm trees, it’s easy to see how the Hideaway neighborhood got its name. The gated resort community, located around 4 miles from La Quinta, is comprised of residential roads encircling the country club’s golf course. Behind the gate, residents’ lifestyle can be whatever they want – at least when it comes to their living space. "Over 80% of our community comprises custom homes. Unlike other communities, we don't have model homes," says Alyssa Cicero, Hideaway's Membership, Sales and Marketing Director. This upscale neighborhood is a luxury retreat in the midst of the Coachella Valley’s desert terrain.

Spanish architecture customized to the owner’s vision
An observer on the sidewalk along the public streets may catch a glimpse of terracotta roof tiles that crown the Spanish Mission and Mediterranean-style homes that make up most of the neighborhood. Although the architectural style is fairly cohesive, the homes themselves are anything but cookie-cutter. “Residents have had the unique opportunity to purchase a lot and work with an architect and builder to create a home that perfectly suits their preferences," Cicero says. Streets weave between the 18 holes of the private golf course that defines the landscape, with lush green grass and glasslike ponds interspersed among the homes. Three-to-five-bedroom homes, many of which have private swimming pools, tend to sell for between $3 million and $6 million. Empty homesites are available for around $900,000 to $1.5 million.

Tee up in the backyard
Recreation is easy to come by in Hideaway, as the country club grants residents access to athletic facilities and a neighborly social scene. Two golf courses offer 18 holes of play, and the 51,000-square-foot clubhouse includes a fitness center and day spa. Residents who want to venture outside the shelter of the neighborhood can contact the Members Services team to organize outdoor activities throughout the Coachella Valley, including hikes, hot-air balloon rides, and mountain biking.

Venture out to La Quinta for shopping and dining
3 miles from the gates of Hideaway, Old Town La Quinta offers shopping and dining options for residents. Residents can stock up on groceries at the Tower Market grocery store and grab lunch at the Arroyos Café and Deli, which serves sandwiches and breakfast specialties. Old Town is home to several boutique shops, including H2o Closet, which sells curated products including specialty soaps, skincare, hair care, and personal fragrances. Main Street Coffee Company provides La Quinta residents with their caffeine fix and fresh pastries to fuel their shopping excursion. If Hideaway residents want to stay hidden, they can also get dinner at one of the dining venues at the clubhouse, including the Main Dining Room, Men’s Grill and the Patio overlooking the mountains.

Year-round Coachella festivities
Life in the Coachella Valley means that residents are never at a loss for things to do on the weekends. Even outside of the iconic music festival, the greater Palm Springs area is a hub for live music, sporting events, performances and more. Cicero says that the ongoing events are a big draw for residents. “This includes the renowned Coachella and Stagecoach festivals, exciting polo matches, the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament and various other events that contribute to the vibrant local lifestyle," she says. In addition, the Augustine Casino, five miles from the neighborhood, features 740 slot machines as well as dining options.
Valley public schools within 6 miles
The Hideaway community is strictly residential, but children can receive public education through the Coachella Valley Unified School District, which serves about 17,000 students. For primary school, kids may attend Mountain Vista Elementary School, which earns a C-minus on Niche. Cahuilla Desert Academy Junior High School scores a C-minus, as well, and offers advanced courses and Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) programs. Coachella Valley High rates a C and has dozens of extracurricular opportunities, including a hiking club, water polo and an astronomy group.
