Horizon Pointe
Neighborhood in Lacey, Washington
Thurston County 98513
Modern Craftsman homes
Horizon Pointe is almost entirely made up of closely spaced single-family homes and duplexes — along with a few condos — built in the mid-2000s. Homes in the neighborhood blend Craftsman and contemporary architectural styles, and typically feature two floors and between 1,500 and 2,500 square feet of interior space. Yard space varies considerably depending on what part of the neighborhood one looks at. Many duplexes on the north side have parking in the rear, while other homes have small-to-medium backyards. Condos and duplexes usually sell for $300,000 to $450,000, while single-family homes go for $450,000 to $600,000.Chehalis Western Trail and Capitol City Golf Club
Horizon Pointe is home to a few community green spaces, most notably Horizon Pointe Park, which offers a playground, walking trails and sports fields. Capitol City Golf Club borders the neighborhood to the north and features a championship 18-hole course. “It’s kind of seen as a more relaxed version of Indian Summer Golf Club, which is just to the west,” says Clement. The neighborhood is also bordered by Chehalis Western Trail, a 22-mile paved bike trail that runs from Woodard Bay Conservation Area, north of Lacey, all the way down to the town of Rainier. The scenic trail is popular both with recreational cyclists and commuters looking to get to central Lacey.Timberline High's CTE program
Public schools in the neighborhood are overseen by the North Thurston School District. Horizons Elementary School has an A-minus on Niche, while Komachin Middle School has a B grade. Timberline High School also has an A-minus and offers college courses to students through its Career and Technical Education programs, which allows students to take classes at nearby South Puget Sound Community College.Close to Centennial Amtrak Station
Yelm Highway runs just to the north of the neighborhood and connects to central Olympia, roughly 6 miles away. It’s a 4-mile drive to central Lacey via College Street, while Joint Base Lewis-McChord is 14 miles away. Although Horizon Pointe is on the edge of town, it just happens to be located less than a quarter-mile from Centennial Station, the only Amtrak station in the greater Olympia area. There are seven northbound and seven southbound trains every day, connecting to Seattle, Portland and Tacoma. It’s 30 minutes by train to Tacoma, 80 minutes to downtown Seattle, and two hours to Portland.Yelm Highway shops and restaurants
Horizon Pointe residents are just over a mile away from south Lacey’s commercial hub, located at the intersection of Yelm Highway and College Street. The area is home to grocery stores Safeway and QVC, Lowe’s and several smaller shops. The area is also home to nearly all of the restaurants in south Lacey, including highly rated Asian fusion eatery Lime Leaf and Capitol City Golf Club’s popular Firecreek Ale House. Locals looking to do a bit more shopping usually head to central Lacey, roughly 4 miles north of the neighborhood, while those in search of cultural events or fine dining go to downtown Olympia, a 7-mile drive from the neighborhood. Horizon Pointe’s location on the edge of town means it’s close to a number of local farms, many of which host events or markets during warmer months. Hunter Family Farm, located less than a mile down the road from Horizon Pointe, opens to the public every fall and offers pumpkin picking, mazes and a variety of other family programming.
