Residential neighborhood on the south side of town
Horizon Pointe is a planned community on the southern tip of Lacey, right at the point where the houses stop and the farms and forests start. This relatively modern neighborhood has become a popular choice for people looking for a quiet, suburban landing spot within easy reach of Lacey, Olympia and Joint Base Lewis-McChord. “The price points in the neighborhood are a little more comfortable than in some other areas nearby,” says Realtor and Olympia native Justin Clement with Better Homes and Gardens. “There’s shopping nearby, it’s easy to get to central Lacey, and close enough to the base that a lot of people commute. It’s a pretty convenient place, all in all.” The neighborhood is also just a block away from the only Amtrak station in greater Olympia, allowing for car-free trips to Portland and Seattle.
Horizon Pointe is a vibrant community where modern living meets scenic beauty.

Homes in the neighborhood blend Craftsman and contemporary architectural styles, and typically feature two floors and between 1,500 and 2,500 square feet of interior space. Yard space varies considerably depending on what part of the neighborhood one looks at. Many duplexes on the north side have parking in the rear, while other homes have small-to-medium backyards. Condos and duplexes usually sell for $300,000 to $450,000, while single-family homes go for $450,000 to $600,000.

Chehalis Western Trail and Capitol City Golf Club
Horizon Pointe is home to a few community green spaces, most notably Horizon Pointe Park, which offers a playground, walking trails and sports fields. Capitol City Golf Club borders the neighborhood to the north and features a championship 18-hole course. “It’s kind of seen as a more relaxed version of Indian Summer Golf Club, which is just to the west,” says Clement. The neighborhood is also bordered by Chehalis Western Trail, a 22-mile paved bike trail that runs from Woodard Bay Conservation Area, north of Lacey, all the way down to the town of Rainier. The scenic trail is popular both with recreational cyclists and commuters looking to get to central Lacey.

Yelm Highway shops and restaurants
Horizon Pointe residents are just over a mile away from south Lacey’s commercial hub, located at the intersection of Yelm Highway and College Street. The area is home to grocery stores Safeway and QVC, Lowe’s and several smaller shops. The area is also home to nearly all of the restaurants in south Lacey, including highly rated Asian fusion eatery Lime Leaf and Capitol City Golf Club’s popular Firecreek Ale House. Locals looking to do a bit more shopping usually head to central Lacey, roughly 4 miles north of the neighborhood, while those in search of cultural events or fine dining go to downtown Olympia, a 7-mile drive from the neighborhood. Horizon Pointe’s location on the edge of town means it’s close to a number of local farms, many of which host events or markets during warmer months. Hunter Family Farm, located less than a mile down the road from Horizon Pointe, opens to the public every fall and offers pumpkin picking, mazes and a variety of other family programming.
Nearby, Firecreek Ale House serves delicious beers on tap and a broad selection of food.
