Ladue is a distinguished community characterized by estates and golf courses. Established trees line the quiet streets where locals enjoy access to premier public education and high-end shopping. Home to just under 9,000 residents, Ladue is a prominent inner-ring St. Louis suburb with room to grow. “Ladue is one of the more affluent areas around St. Louis, especially known for its strong school district and central location,” says Allen Brake, Realtor and owner of The Allen Brake Real Estate Team.
Level lots and large mature trees are common throughout Ladue.
Sidewalks line many of Ladue's roads and give residents the chance to enjoy the neighborhood.

Manors and mansions abound
Winding roads and cul-de-sacs invite residents home to sprawling ranches and neo-eclectic estates. Most homes have four to five bedrooms and lot sizes ranging from a quarter to a full acre. The average home price is $1.4 million, with outliers extending to $6 million for Tudor-style manors with private pools and tennis courts. Smaller houses are hard to find in Ladue, but several lots are available for purchase starting at $400,000, where buyers can build a home to suit their preferences. “Since the area has mostly older homes on large lots, there’s a shortage of housing inventory,” says Brake. “But there’s potential to tear down homes and build something new since the lots are spacious.”
Ladue’s housing market moves at a pace similar to the national average, with houses typically selling after 40 days on the market. In 2023, 71 houses sold in Ladue, and as of April 2024, there were four homes on the market. The median housing price in the city is around $1.4 million, significantly higher than the national median.
Large Tudors can be found hidden in the trees along the streets of Ladue.

Golf choices are plentiful
Although many residents enjoy private green spaces, Ladue has plenty of public parks. Tilles Park is a favorite picnic and fishing spot with a playground, splash pad and walking trails around a lake. “Tilles Park is fantastic,” says Brake. “It’s known for hosting the huge holiday light display every December. It’s a popular event—people come from all over St. Louis to enjoy the show.”
Anderson Dog Park, located near the Clayton-Ladue border, offers dogs and their owners an enclosed area to play. Locals visiting the dog park should expect to pay a small annual fee for their dog’s registration.
With multiple golf courses inside the town’s borders, Ladue is a golfer’s haven. The Bogey Club and Log Cabin Club share an 18-hole course but have separate clubhouses, while Old Warson Country Club has its own course and clubhouse. St. Louis Country Club, established in 1892, is one of the St. Louis metropolitan area's oldest and most prestigious clubs. Ladue’s clubs are private and exclusive.
While there are plenty of entertainment options in town, Ladue’s proximity to St. Louis makes visiting the city center easy. Locals can enjoy the St. Louis Art Museum, the award-winning St. Louis Zoo, the Magic House Children’s Museum and the Fabulous Fox Theater without traveling too far from home. The Washington University campus and downtown Clayton are also within 20 miles of the city of Ladue.
Old Warson Club was established by St. Louis locals Alfred Hayes and James Rarick in 1953.
Tilles Park has a large splash pad that attracts residents throughout the area.

Shopping and dining isn't far away
The Clayton Road Business District offers a quarter mile of quaint shops, restaurants, bars and ice cream spots. On the east end of town, Colonial Marketplace and Ladue Crossing Shopping Centers feature grocery stores, healthcare offices and retail shops.
Ladue Crossing Shopping Center has a Schnuck’s grocery store, an Old Navy, a Barnes & Noble and several doctors, dentists and estheticians’ offices. There are plenty of popular chain restaurants in the area and several locally owned favorites, including Grassi’s Ristorante & Deli, which serves classic Italian meals in a laid-back environment. Another favorite is Truffles, located in the Clayprice Shopping Center. Truffles is known for its ever-changing monthly menu, tailored to seasonal produce from local farmers.
