An Alabama farming community with local history
The capital "f" in LaFayette, Alabama, was influenced by a local newspaper editor from the 1800s. The editor created a fictional character who mispronounced the town as "La Fait." Locals also travel on State Route 77 and Veterans Memorial Parkway. Auburn is about 25 miles south. Drivers reach the nearest hospital, EAMC-Lanier, and the Alabama-Georgia border in roughly 15 miles.

LaFayette Eastside Elementary and John P. Powell Middle have C ratings on Niche. LaFayette High receives a C-plus. During homecoming week, the school's alumni gather for events.
