“Those are the kind of rental homes I like. It features a paved walking trail, multiple playgrounds, baseball fields and lighted tennis and basketball courts. In October, Fort Ouiatenon near West Lafayette welcomes thousands of visitors to the Feast of the Hunters’ Moon. Commuting is easy as Commanche is four miles west of Interstate 65, which runs to Chicago and Indianapolis. It’s also close to State Roads 25, 26 and 38 and U.S. Routes 52 and 23. Travelers who prefer to skip the drive can take the train at Lafayette’s Amtrak station. Service to Chicago, Washington, DC, and New York City is available. Greyhound in Lafayette is another option. Although there is no shopping and dining within the neighborhood, there are plenty of options for both nearby. Two miles away, the Tippecanoe Mall is home to anchor stores like Macy’s, Penney’s, Dick’s and Kohls. Grocery shopping at Pay Less is only two miles away. Locally-owned eateries are popular gathering spots. Trueblood Real Estate Realtor Rebecca Wright is a big fan of Teays River Brewing & Public House and Walt’s Other Pub. She recommends the Paradise Salad, burgers and wings at Walt’s Other Pub. She enjoys going to Teays, especially on nights when they feature live music. “I love their buffalo cauliflower wings,” Wright says.
