South-side Lafayette neighborhood with pride in ownership
Cross Point is an established but well-maintained neighborhood on Lafayette's growing south side. In this active suburban area, residents show pride in ownership with frequent interior updates and neat, grassy lawns. The city is investing in this part of town, too, with new parks on the way and existing parks getting upgrades as south Lafayette continues to expand. The neighborhood already benefits from a convenient location along Veterans Memorial Parkway, a significant south-side gateway to major employers and shopping and dining options. "It's very centrally located to shopping and schools in a well-kept neighborhood," says Dustin Robinson, leader of the Robinson Geswein Team at Lafayette Listing Realty. "The houses are older, but they're not ancient."
Homes with vintage features and modern updates
Two subdivisions make up this almost entirely residential neighborhood. The Fink Meadows subdivision has older, custom houses on the north side, and Southern Meadows features newer homes on the south side. To the south, New Traditional properties date to around 2000. These often feature front porches and large windows, letting in lots of light. To the north, there are Cape Cods and ranch-style homes from the '70s and '80s. Some of these have custom features such as exposed wood beams and mosaic stonework. Some of the older properties balance vintage features with modern updates, including brick wood-burning fireplaces and new HVAC systems. Several dwellings also have new roofs. Cross Point properties are on the market for $215,000 to $320,000. With about a third of an acre per lot, front yards have well-kept, grassy lawns with flower beds adjoining the homes.

Veterans Memorial Parkway is a gateway to the south side
Thanks to Veterans Memorial Parkway, work commutes may be a little easier. This east-west route connects to Purdue University, one of the area's largest employers, located about 6 miles northwest. Subaru of Indiana Automotive, employing more than 6,000 associates, is about 5 miles east. The road also connects to Sagamore Parkway, which leads 60 miles to Indianapolis and 30 miles to Lebanon. "We have families working in Lebanon and Indy, and that makes this area a good halfway point because you can get to Indy pretty quickly," says Cheryl Butcher, Managing Broker at Keller Williams Realty.
