Good schools, walkability and community events attract families
Just four miles south of downtown Lafayette, Edgelea is a residential development comprised of prefabricated homes built in the 1950s. These homes were part of a wave that accompanied the post-war suburban boom. Lafayette’s own National Real Estate Company built these homes here and shipped them all over the U.S. through the 1980s. These quaint homes continue to attract families looking for a suburban life with good public schools and grocery shopping, retail and dining options within half a mile. This winning combination of factors makes Edgelea an attractive location for families with school-age children and investors who prefer long-term renters. The homes have held up well. So has their value. In fact, homes here sell more than twice as fast as the national average.
