Meandering, wooded roads offer privacy on Lafayette's southwest side
On the southwest side of Lafayette, Sawmill has a unique layout mirroring the twists and turns of the Wabash River to the west. A wide variety of home types — from apartments to duplexes to single-family homes — fill this rolling, wooded landscape, with residential streets winding through dense thickets of trees. Speed bumps encourage a slow drive through this quiet, laid-back area. Lacking through streets, the neighborhood may not see many outside visitors. "It offers more privacy than a lot of places in town because of the woods, hills and ravines," says Cheryl Butcher, Managing Broker at Keller Williams Realty. "It's not just a flat area chopped into square quarters — you can easily meander up there and get lost." Yet being on the west side of town, Sawmill is connected to downtown and Purdue University.

These grand exteriors also lend to tall, vaulted ceilings between 9 and 16 feet. These properties tend to be tucked back from the street within dense pockets of trees.
