Maple Grove sits along the shores of Lake Ann. Private peers jut out onto the water, offering easier access than the public beach park offered on the other side of the water in town. As an unincorporated Lake Ann neighborhood, the community might not have the village’s restaurants and parks right around the corner, but residents are still very much part of the small-town community based there. “It’s not a bunch of random people from all over the nation,” says real estate agent Leanne Deeren with Real Estate One. “It’s very local — families who have been in the area for generations.”
Residential streets in Maple Grove gently follow the curves of Lake Ann's southern shoreline.

Swimming in the lake and hiking through the woods
With their own docks, people can easily get onto Lake Ann, whether they want to boat, fish or swim. “It’s a little smaller than other lakes, so it warms up quickly,” Deeren says. Those without access to a personal dock can head to Almira Township Lakefront Park, where people can wade into the water from the sandy beach. Lake Ann Pathway stretches for almost 6 miles along the western side of the lake in Pere Marquette State Forest. The campgrounds over here also offer another way to access boating and fishing on the lake.
Locals can head to Almira Township Lakeside Park to cool down at the public swimming beach.
A wide range of flora and fauna can be found throughout the wooded spread of Lake Ann Pathway.

Lake Ann also has things happening throughout the year to keep residents engaged and connected. “The president of the village — he goes by Hawk — hosts monthly meets for coffee at The Red Door and whoever wants to come can come to the meeting and have input on the community,” Deeren says. “They’re getting ready to host a little dance at the village hall.”
