Dr. Phillips High School, the area’s oldest, opened in 1987 across the street from Universal Studios. The school’s 55-acre campus-style school serves 4,000 students today. Their magnet program, the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, attracts top talent, positioning students for success in the entertainment industry. Niche gives the school an A-minus.

Restaurant row
The mile stretch on Sand Lake Road between Apopka-Vineland Road and I-4 has become known as Restaurant Row, with options rivaling quainter foodie-centric areas like nearby Winter Park. Residents may be competing with tourists for reservations because of its proximity to the Orlando Convention Center and all major theme parks. Still, there are plenty of local gems in the mix. Chatham’s Place is an intimate farm-to-table dining experience, and the family-owned Christini’s offers Italian fine dining. Fresco’s Italian is a more casual family favorite at The Marketplace shopping center. Restaurant Row is also home to national chains such as Fleming Steakhouse, Morton’s and Eddie V’s Prime Seafood. The City Center at O-Town West is coming soon to the area. It is a billion-dollar development that includes restaurant, retail and entertainment spaces, as well as Marriott Vacations Worldwide Headquarters.
