Unique, luxury homes surrounded by the countryside
Old-world, Italian-style villas, French countryside-inspired estates and modern luxury homes overlook the Willamette River on the east, surrounded by countryside and vineyards on the west, in Glenmorrie. Besides artfully designed homes, the community enjoys access to one of the best school districts in the state of Oregon. “The Lake Oswego Public School District has been highly ranked for years,” says Elizabeth Davidson, a real estate broker with Cascade Hasson Sotheby’s International Realty and a Lake Oswego resident. “Many people move here to make sure their children get a great education.”

Multi-million-dollar homes with acreage
Glenmorrie is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Lake Oswego—the average home value in the neighborhood is $1.615 million. Though many homes reach seven figures when it comes to cost, Glenmorrie features a variety of architectural styles. Ranch-style homes constructed throughout the 1960s, ‘70s and ’80s make good use of the spacious lots they were built on, perched next to modern custom homes and Tudor-inspired estates. “There are houses in a few different price points, depending on how close you are to the river,” Davidson says.
Buyers will find many homes cost between $1.2 million and $2 million, sitting on at least half an acre of land with four bedrooms. Glenmorrie also boasts a number of homes that cost over $2 million, resting on an acre or more of land. Some of these builds were designed by award-winning architects and most come with unique features like pools, private tennis courts, saunas and views of Mount Hood looming in the foggy distance. The curb appeal in the neighborhood matches the elevated property prices, with precisely shaped hedges and vibrant flower bushes that suggest the caring touch of a professional landscaper.

Riverfront scenery on Old River Road
Residents enjoy Glenmorrie Park, which features a modern playground on over two acres of green space. Though it may not have direct access to the Willamette River, a duo of sculptures titled “The Flow” by artist Stuart Jacobson pays homage to the rapids about a mile away. However, when joggers want a route closer to the water, they follow Old River Road as it cuts through dense evergreen forests that turn vivid shades of amber and saffron in the autumn. Running along an incline near the water, the trail eventually reaches the wooden Oswego Creek bridge and leads to the beaches of the river.

Moroccan spiced coffee and mint tea at Ovation
For their morning brew, residents can venture down Willamette Drive to Ovation Coffee and Tea. The café’s handcrafted beverages stand out from the coffee that Portland is known for because of the traditional Moroccan spices they are infused with. Besides lattes blended with pistachio and organic honey, sweet Moroccan tea is a menu fixture at Ovation. Scones are baked several times throughout the day, and for a more filling bite, the café serves biscuits and paninis, too. A Walmart Neighborhood Market and a few burger joints line Willamette Drive further south, while a New Seasons Market in Hallinan is five minutes away. For a day on the vineyard, Oswego Hills Vineyard offers tastings on the weekends in the countryside east of Glenmorrie. Wine lovers can enjoy different varietals and see the steel fermentation vessels and wooden barrels the wines they sip on are aged in.
