Lake Point is a country community near Salt Lake City
Lake Point is a rural community in the Tooele Valley, around 25 miles from downtown Salt Lake City. The residential area has added many New Traditional homes in response to the valley’s growth. People often commute to Salt Lake City for work, and they can relax at Great Salt Lake State Park during off-hours.
What homebuyers can expect to pay for New Traditional homes
Lake Point’s New Traditional homes often use stone in their designs. Many are modern builds, and there continue to be new constructions, especially in the Pastures at Saddleback subdivision. There are also homes from the early 1900s, but those rarely hit the market. “Most people don’t leave Lake Point,” says Nicole Cloward, the principal broker and owner of The Trusted Team at Re/Max Complete, who lives in the area. “They either grew up there or found an opportunity to buy a house. … All the people coming from the Wasatch Front [to the east] or from other states are finding a tight community, and they are welcomed in.” Prices usually go from the mid-$500,000s to the upper $600,000s, which is slightly above nearby areas like Stansbury Park and Erda. HOA fees for Pastures at Saddleback homes are $45 per quarter.
Lake Point offers a rural life and beautiful sunsets
The Lake Point community has existed in some form since the mid-1800s, when it was known as E.T. City, but it officially became a city in 2021. The Oquirrh Mountains sit to the east, and the Great Salt Lake is to the north. Most of the area is surrounded by flat grasslands that give the community a rural feel, something that appeals to people looking to leave city life behind. “Our corridor is getting more attractive,” Cloward says. “People are working their way out there. They can spread out and feel the country lifestyle.” Young families are a large part of the area’s growth. The area’s median age is about 35, and its population under 18 is significantly above the national average. Many residents attend The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is headquartered in Salt Lake City and opened a temple in nearby Tooele in 2021. As people move to the area, commercial growth is expected to follow, Cloward says. One thing that won’t change, even with more businesses in the area, is its sunsets. “The water just does something amazing to the sky,” Cloward says.

Around 2 miles from the park is The Great Saltair, an event venue that hosts concerts and film premieres.
Lake Point Park is a small green space with a playground and a basketball court. Larger sports areas, including a disc golf course and baseball and tennis courts, can be found at Porter Way Park in Stansbury Park. Nearby, Erda is home to Burt Brothers Motorpark, where people can rent go-karts and watch several kinds of racing.
