A rural, forested area south of Lake Stevens
Bunk Foss in Snohomish County is a few miles south of Lake Stevens, the largest lake in the county. Bunk Foss was named after Joseph Bunker Foss, who moved to the area in the 1870s with his family as a young child. He later owned and farmed the land that is now named after him. Much of Bunk Foss, especially on the east side, is still forested, undeveloped land. It's north of the city of Snohomish. "You're in a bedroom community that's very rural and very nice and quiet," says Skip Bates, a broker with New Horizons Realty who has over three decades of experience. He says Bunk Foss does not have the typical urban sprawl that has overtaken other parts of the region.

State Route 9 and U.S. Route 2 are the main roads
The car-dependent Bunk Foss has state Route 9 going through it. The western and southern areas are adjacent to U.S. Route 2. "Bunk Foss is a gateway from Highway 2 and Monroe to Stevens Pass," Bates says. Monroe, a city where the Skykomish, Snohomish and Snoqualmie rivers meet, is about 13 miles from Bunk Foss. The drive to the resort Stevens Pass is about 50 miles farther along U.S. 2, past mountain and river towns.

"Many of the properties have a good deal of privacy due to trees, terrain and larger lots. There are many 5-acre parcels."
