Lakeland Highlands
Private fishing and kids softball games
Lakes of various sizes are all throughout the neighborhood. Areas like Scott Lake, Christina Lake and Crescent Lake have private piers where homeowners can fish for Largemouth bass, Bluegills and Common snook. “There are so many lakes in the neighborhood that you can have a boat or a fishing line in the water in a matter of minutes,” says Jeri Thom, broker and owner of Premier Realty Network with over 20 years of experience. Large palm trees line the entrance of Christina Park, the neighborhood’s main green space. Children find hours of enjoyment at the onsite playground and attached softball fields, home of the Christina Girls Softball Team. Neighbors gather to cheer on local teams during the fall and spring seasons. At Loyce E. Harpe Park, residents can access multi-purpose fields, a looping bicycle trail, a skate park and a dog park. Golf enthusiasts frequent the Club at Eaglebrooke, a semi-private 18-hole course right outside Lakeland Highlands. The fairways integrate the surrounding natural environment by carving out their place among the pre-existing trees and lakes.Plenty to eat along Florida Avenue South
Residents can head to Aldi, Winn-Dixie or Publix to go grocery shopping for fresh ingredients and packaged goods. When locals want a quick bite, restaurants are all along Florida Avenue South. Familiar chains like Outback Steakhouse, Tijuana Flats and Sonny’s BBQ are found beside more local flavors. Fresh Kitchen Lakeland serves health food that caters to many lifestyles, with vegan, keto-friendly and gluten-free options on the menu. Duke’s Brewhouse offers diners a casual, sports-bar atmosphere where customers can enjoy domestic beer while listening to live music or dominating trivia night. For international flavors, Sushi Masa Lakeland serves all-you-can-eat sushi in a bamboo and cheery blossom-themed establishment. Outside of Florida Avenue South, the rest of the neighborhood is primarily residential, meaning locals living on the eastern end have fewer options nearby. “What happened is the developers built a lot of homes but not the goods and services to support them,” Thom says. “However, it has improved over time and doesn’t deter buyers because the homes are so sought after.”Ample housing choices in Lakeland Highlands
