Schalamar Creek
Well-maintained properties in planned residential communities
Spanning 500 acres made up over 800 homes, the gated community of Schalamar Creek Golf and Country Club offers lakefront, golf course and wooded lots depending on the buyer’s preference. Smaller homes in the community with more modest floor plans start at around $40,000, with larger homes selling for roughly $255,000. While some homes have attached garages, most have attached carports instead — though all have individual driveways. Homes here date back to the late 20th century, with some built in the early 2000s. These manufactured ranch-style homes sit on lot-leased land, with some having traditional midcentury architecture while others have more midcentury modern influence. Homes here sit on small, grassy and well-maintained lawns, with most owners paying detailed attention to landscaping. On the northern edge of the neighborhood outside of the 55+ community is Saddle Creek Preserve, a planned development with newly constructed and still-developing custom one and two-story New Traditional homes. Prices in this development start at around $250,000 and range to around $420,000 for the largest floor plans. Homes in this development sit on well-landscaped, grassy lawns, and the quiet streets are lined with wide sidewalks for families to walk and young children to ride their bikes.
Amble recreation opportunites for residents and non-residents of the retirement community
Residents of Schalamar Creek Golf and Country Club have access to an abundance of recreational amenities, including a large, heated swimming pool, a fitness pool, a jacuzzi, a billiards room, tennis, pickleball and shuffleboard courts, several fishing lakes and more. Both residents and non-residents of the country club community can utilize the on-site 18-hole course, located alongside the nearly 750-acre Saddle Creek Park, a protected bird sanctuary, allowing golfers to see a wide variety of birds while on the course.
At Saddle Creek Park, visitors can find multiple playgrounds as well as scenic camping opportunities. The park offers some of the best fishing in Polk County via a connected maze of lakes, which provide four fishing ramps. An expansive network of trails connects the park to the nearby Tenoric Fish Management Area, with even more fishing opportunities — just be careful of alligators while out on the water!
Horse enthusiasts can visit the local Mainstone Riding Academy just east of the country club, which offers instructions and boarding and features a 4-acre cross-country course, a jumping arena, and a 24-stall barn.
