A lakefront community at the northeast edge of Tarrant County
Compared to the populated Lake Worth community across the bridge, Lakeside's 2,260 residents embrace a quieter lifestyle. Close to a vast countryside, it's not uncommon to spot groups of donkeys, horses and cattle on the way west. This lakefront community feels so secluded that it's almost hard to believe how close it is to Fort Worth. To the north and east, Lake Worth and Eagle Mountain Lake offer sailing clubs, beaches and waterfront sunsets. "The convenience of all the big-city amenities close by is Lakeside’s main appeal," says Robbie Renfro, broker/owner at RE/MAX Achievers. "At the same time, being out there where it's quiet and peaceful by the water – it's just a really nice, slow lifestyle, especially for retirees."

Homes sit snuggly and forested by Lake Worth
The expansive yards of neo-traditional homes give it a semi-rural feel, with houses becoming more spread out the farther west residents drive. Renfro says that homes typically have one-plus acres, three-car garages and many with swimming pools. Scattered about these luxury homes are plenty of ranch-style houses sitting snuggly, side-by-side; however, it’s almost guaranteed to be situated on a shady lot enveloped by mature trees. The range of housing costs is wide in Lakeside; a three-bedroom home on one acre can sell between $450,000 and $650,000, but additional acreage often lists between $800,000 and nearly $2 million.

Shopping is a bridge away in Lake Worth
Most chain restaurants exist in Lake Worth; however, there are a few local favorites. There's Boo Ray's of New Orleans on Boat Club Road, a popular Cajun spot for crab cakes and Southern staples. Ginger Brown's Old Tyme Restaurant & Bakery, right off Jacksboro Highway, is known for its cinnamon rolls and eclectic comfort food. Joe's Pizza & Pasta is a casual Italian restaurant, famous for its New York-style pizza, calzones, lasagna and its relaxed atmosphere. When it's time to cook at home, locals can head across the Lake Worth Boulevard bridge to Lake Worth Center and stock up on groceries at Albertsons, Walmart or Target. And with Highway 199 nearby, it's a quick trip anywhere throughout the Metroplex's many malls.

All events are in downtown Fort Worth
While few festivals are happening on the quiet streets of Lakeside, besides the small Lakeside Annual Spring Event at the Community Center off Confederate Park Road, Fort Worth's annual events make up for it. January brings its Stock Show and Rodeo and Texas Motor Speedway, while the Lone Star International Film Festival is in November. Things heat up in the summertime with Mayfest, four days of live music, festival food and carnival rides. Unique to Fort Worth is National Day of the American Cowboy in July, and Panther Island Pavilion, Texas' only waterfront stage. Located on the Trinity River, the pavilion hosts Rockin' the River from July through August. Hundreds show up along the lawn with blankets, or they'll bring their tube to float and kickback alongside live music.
