Hutchinson Green Mountain
Diverse architectural styles centered around Bear Creek Golf Club
Woven between the fairways of Bear Creek Golf Club, many of the homes present a modern take on traditional styles: Victorian turrets accented with bay windows rise prominently from estates swathed in pale brick, and wide lots accommodate multicar garages, fragrant flower gardens and towering pines. “The Green Mountain area is not one of the new build developments. It’s actually quite established,” says Jesse Lynch, owner of the Welcome To Denver real estate team and host of a popular YouTube channel of the same name. Built primarily between 1960 and 1980, homes can range from Tudor-style builds to sprawling modern ranch-style properties. Several custom contemporary homes are perched on hilltops, but these are few and far between and don’t hit the market often. The homes that do hit the market, though, are rarely listed for under $1 million. That’s not entirely surprising, considering many of the homes offer almost 4,000 square feet of living space.
Neighborhood pool at home, expansive parklands and golf clubs nearby
Lots of homes are close to incredible mountain views and easy access to some of the best park spaces and trails along the foothills of the Front Range. Solitude is easy to find on the trails of neighboring Bear Creek Lake Park, which covers more than 2,000 acres with space for walking, biking, camping and fishing by the lake. Mountain bikers will love living so close to the twisting trails in William F. Hayden Green Mountain Park, and if you’re not an avid enough golfer to warrant a Bear Creek Golf Club membership, you can always visit the public Fox Hollow Golf Course for a relaxing weekend on the green. When you’re feeling more social, head to the private neighborhood pool on a warm sunny day and bring your racket for a friendly game of tennis with your neighbors.Dining at Cafe Jordano and nearby supermarkets and bakeries
Locals can order a tart and tangy cherry farmhouse sour from Green Mountain Beer Company or dive into something tasty from a local food truck. For date night, take the short trip north to Heritage West Shopping Center, where you can indulge in decadent Italian dishes like lobster ravioli in a lemon cream sauce from local staple Café Jordano. Over the last 30 years, what began as a small restaurant operation has blossomed into a 30-year passion project for owner Elisa Heitman, who still personally greets patrons with a smile. On the weekends, head back to the shopping center to stock up on groceries from Safeway, and don’t forget to pick up a fresh loaf of cinnamon chip bread from Great Harvest Bread Company — it makes the best French toast.Jeffco Public Schools serves the community
During the school week, students can attend Devinny Elementary, which has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School and maintains an A rating on Niche. After engaging with STEM projects through fifth grade, students can attend Dunstan Middle School right next door, where they can practice mindfulness during weekly yoga sessions. In ninth grade, most students will attend Green Mountain High School, which was designed as an open-concept school in the 1970s and maintains an A- rating on Niche. Movable classroom walls allow for greater collaboration and a sense of community among students, helping them to form deeper connections with their peers. And if those schools don’t seem like a good fit, students can apply to attend any district school through Jeffco Public Schools’ Choice Enrollment program. With nearby golf courses, private community amenities and million-dollar views of the Front Range, Hutchinson Green Mountain has become one of Lakewood’s most peaceful and coveted communities.
