Although most of the restaurants are located within the city of Lapeer, the township has a few long-standing establishments. Hitch-N-Post Bar & Grill packs a full house any night of the week. Fundraisers and car shows engage the community

Many community events are held at the Lapeer VFW-Post 4139, affectionately known as "The Little Post on the Hill with a Big Heart." The facility hosts spaghetti dinner fundraisers, Oktoberfest and the much-anticipated American Post 4139 Car Show, where residents admire the hotrods and classic cars as they parade through the streets.

Hopping on the train to reach Michigan cities

Many residents get around by car, however, the community is close to the Lapeer Depot, which is the home of the Lapeer Amtrak, located just off South Saginaw Street. The train takes residents to nearby regions such as Port Huron, Detroit, Flint, Ann Arbor and Chicago. The community is also adjacent to the publicly owned Dupont-Lapeer Airport D-95.
