Private community with convenient location
One of the few gated communities in Laredo, JSJ Estates is composed of three smaller subdivisions filled with luxury homes with private green space. “It’s a very warm community as a whole,” says Martha Wright-Martinez, associate broker with Coldwell Banker Ana Ochoa who has been a broker since 1986 and has lived in Laredo all her life. When neighbors run into each other at the nearby Starbucks in the Mall del Norte a mile west, “it’s not unusual for someone to engage in conversation,” Wright-Martinez adds. As the city expands, the neighborhood has become much more centralized, with downtown Laredo a 5-mile drive south along Interstate 35. The Laredo Country club, for members, is to the north and the Library is to the south. The Joe A. Guerra Laredo Public Library is the main branch for the city.
JSJ Estates consists of only residential homes surrounded by retail all around.
JSJ Estates roads are lined with lush green trees.

Spanish styles through three subdivisions
Within JSJ Estates are three main subdivisions: Garden Villas, Legacy Heights and The Estates. Garden Villas and Legacy Heights sit along Jordan Dive, with The Estates located in the back of the neighborhood. Garden Villas primarily has single-story homes, Legacy Heights has a combination of single-story and two-story homes, and The Estates has more two-story homes and the largest lots. Spanish-style is the predominant style within the community, although contemporary homes also appear as well. The homes sit close together, with more emphasis on the housing style than a large yard. While not quite a necessity, many homes will have backyard pools to help combat the Texas heat. Most homes were built after 2000, and there are a few plots of land available for building a new home. Garden Villas home prices begin around $280,000 and can reach up to $500,000. Legacy Heights begins around $350,000 and can reach up to $860,000. The Estates has the highest prices, ranging from $480,000 up to $1.3 million.
Three bedroom spanish style homes are found in central JSJ Estates.

Mother’s Day and flowers
With the mixture of cultures, Mother’s Day is celebrated both on the second Sunday in May and May 10th, and while sometimes the two fall on the same day, most times there is a double dose of the holiday. “Mother’s Day is one that a lot of people do,” says Wright-Martinez. “You see people take time off to take their moms to get a corsage flowers, and then do it again on Sunday.” The Washington Birthday Celebration includes an airshow at the Laredo International Airport and parades. Four miles east, the Sames Auto Arena has concerts and comedy shows throughout the year.
Mall del Norte and common stores
JSJ Estates is only a mile from Mall del Norte, which has over 100 stores, including Dillard’s, JCPenney and Starbucks. The Plaza de Laredo, across from Interstate 35, has The Home Depot and Walmart. Three miles northeast, San Telmo Argentinean Steakhouse is across the street from the grocery store H-E-B. Other local restaurants within a mile of San Telmo include Colmena Bar & Grille for an upscale grilling night and Dos Maria Kitchen for a more relaxed Mexican meal.
Just off Interstate 35 to the west
El Metro Transit has one bus stop for routes 2A and 4 just outside the neighborhood on Springfield Avenue. Most residents will rely on vehicles, with Interstate 35 about a mile west from the entrance. The Laredo International Airport is almost 5 miles east.
