Groceries to the north and breakfast to the west

On nearby McPherson Road are several fast-food and local restaurants, including Paulita’s, a Mexican chain operated throughout Laredo. Following Hillside Road to the west leads to La Casa de Frida-House of Breakfast, a colorful spot with pictures of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo lining the walls. Mall del Norte is a mile and a half west and anchored by Macy’s. For groceries, residents can find several of the Texas giant H-E-B stores within a 3-mile radius, and there are multiple convenience stores around the neighborhood.

Health science education at Alexander High

Students can begin their educational path at Newman Elementary School, located in the neighborhood, before attending Clark Middle School. Newman earns a B-plus from Niche, while the middle school gets a B. Alexander High School offers Advanced Placement courses and is home to a magnet school focused on health science; it earns an A-minus from Niche. Alexander High also has a band program that has won regional championships, and its mariachi band has been invited to perform in the Austin capitol building.

Green space for soccer and state park to the east

To the west, Noon Lions Park is a small park with a covered playground and a paved walkway. Lake Casa Blanca International State Park is 4 miles east and features watersports, camping spots and trails, as well as the public Casa Blanca Golf Course. To the south are several soccer and baseball fields, including the Roberto de Llano Track. The track circles a covered basketball court with an accessible playground to the side, which is also covered. Within the neighborhood is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Homes rarely come on the market

This established neighborhood primarily consists of brick, ranch-style homes with attached garages, although a few two-story homes are scattered throughout. There are some townhomes for rent as well. Homes here rarely go on the market, with none having sold in the past five years. As the runways of the Laredo International Airport are next to Vista Hermosa, plane traffic can be a factor for residents.

Bus stops along the edges and airport to the east

The entrance to Laredo International Airport is almost 4 miles east, on the other side of the airport. Interstate 35 is 2 miles west. El Metro Transit has bus stops along Hillside Road and McPherson Road. The Laredo Medical Center is a mile and a half south.

City events and the Little Theater

Residents of Vista Hermosa have access to the City of Laredo’s events throughout the year, including the Washington's Birthday Celebration, a monthlong festival in February. The Laredo Little Theatre produces stage plays year-round. The Joe A. Guerra Public Library also has classes and programs throughout the year for residents of all ages.
