Glennwood offers access to Indian Rocks Beach and a sandy coastline
Glennwood sits roughly 3 miles inland from the white sandy beaches along the Gulf side of the Pinellas Peninsula. “It’s about seven minutes from Indian Rocks Beach. That’s a beach in a community that locals tend to go to, so it’s not as touristy,” says Dan Tumarkin, a real estate consultant with Keller Williams Realty Portfolio Collection. “One of the nicer things about the area is that there are a lot of local restaurants on Walsingham, too,” he says, referring to the major thoroughfare that connects the neighborhood to the coastal community of Indian Rocks Beach. The road traces the southeast side of the neighborhood, where Indian Rocks Church and its affiliated private school are located.
Bungalows and ranch-style homes surrounded by manufactured home communities
Bungalows and ranch-style homes sit in the shade of mature trees with gnarled branches and the gently swaying shadows of palm trees. Single-family homes in Glennwood were largely built in the late 1970s, many with sunrooms, lanais or in-ground pools from which to enjoy the sunny Florida climate. Prices range from $355,000 to $480,000. Residential streets with sidewalks form gridded squares, surrounded by manufactured home communities. Manufactured homes in Glennwood range from $100,000 to $210,000. The neighborhood is home to two communities restricted to residents 55 and up. Homes in the Beach House Cottage Retreat community were built as recently as 2025, while those in Glenwood Estates were mostly constructed between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, with monthly homeowners association fees between $290 and $320.
Southwest Recreation Complex and the Florida Botanical Gardens
Multiple public beach access points can be found in Indian Rocks Beach, about 3 miles from the neighborhood. Adjacent to Glennwood, the Southwest Recreation Complex includes a heated, Olympic-sized pool, a fitness center and eight tennis courts. Its offerings are vast, including various after-school care programs and summer camps. “My kids used to take classes, like dance classes, at the recreation center. The city of Largo offers a lot of programming, and it’s nice that the center is so close by,” Tumarkin says. The municipal 18-hole Largo Golf Course is also nearby, with a clubhouse, a pro shop, clinics and leagues. The Florida Botanical Gardens are just east of the neighborhood, and admission is free. “It’s a nice place to walk through during Christmas, when they light it up,” Tumarkin says. The green space consists of 100 acres, which are divided into gardens dedicated to tropical fruit, topiary, roses, herbs, succulents and more. The Majeed Discovery Garden is a unique play area for children with life-size musical instruments, a trunk jump and a sensory bamboo curtain.
All-day breakfast, artisanal teas and groceries at Walsingham Commons
The Walsingham Commons shopping center is at the southwest corner of the neighborhood, anchored by a Publix Super Market. The grocery store is near a few local eateries, like the family-owned Savory Restaurant. Breakfast is served all day, while a variety of steaks, pasta dishes and barbecue baby back ribs are prepared in time for lunch and dinner. Tribe Tea House & Kava Bar is in the same shopping complex. Its airy interior is filled with sleek leather sofas, lots of plants and more foliage that hangs from the ceiling. Customers intent on their books or laptops sip coffee, tea, kombucha or kava, a beverage made from a South Pacific plant with calming properties.
Academic honor societies and music classes at Glennwood High School
Children living in Glennwood may begin their studies at Oakhurst Elementary School, which scores an A-minus grade from Niche. They may then enroll in Seminole Middle School, which receives a B, and Seminole High School, which earns a B-plus. The school offers 10 academic honor societies as well as several programs focused on specific career paths, like the Sports Media Academy, the Sustainable Engineering Academy or the E-commerce Academy. The high school also offers a variety of music classes, from guitar lessons and Advanced Placement Music Theory to music tech and sound engineering.
U.S. Route 19 and Interstate 25 connect to downtown Clearwater and Tampa
Ulmerton Road, also known as Florida state Route 688, curves along the southeast side of Glennwood. As it continues east, the route intersects both U.S. Route 19 and Interstate 275. Interstate 275 takes drivers to downtown Tampa, which is about 25 miles away, while U.S. Route 19 travels north to downtown Clearwater, roughly 7 miles away. Two Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority buses stop in the neighborhood, bringing passengers to Indian Rocks Beach, the Indian Rocks Shopping Center and the Countryside Mall.
