A Largo neighborhood with a relaxed community vibe
Shadow Pines is a suburban community in Largo filled with 20th-century subdivisions. "It really has a great neighborhood feel of a bygone, yesterday era," says Kumari Fulbright, an experienced Tampa-area broker with Coastal Properties Group International. "It's a friendly neighborhood where you'll see people washing their cars on Saturday morning, kids riding bikes on the street and people tending their lawns. It has a traditional and somewhat nostalgic feel." Residents can access nearby Gulf Beaches, stores and outdoor spaces in Largo. The community also contains a public elementary that's transitioning into a K to 8 school.

Diverse 20th-century housing options in Shadow Pines
The Shadow Pines Estates development, at the heart of the community, includes ranch-style homes from the 1980s to the 1990s. However, the area consists of several other residential developments. Grosse Pointe is a 55-plus community with manufactured homes; Blue Water Cove and Fairview subdivisions contain late 20th-century dwellings. Many Shadow Pines properties entering the market have updates, such as new water heaters, air conditioning units and solar power systems. "There's a pride in ownership for this community. Locals are always keeping up the front lawns and painting new colors on their homes," Fulbright says. "The area has smaller homes because they are older. It's a great neighborhood for an evening walk because all the houses are different and interesting." Manufactured homes range in price between $115,000 and $175,000. Homes built before the 1980s usually range from $225,000 to $580,000. Residences constructed after the 1980s cost $325,000 to $675,000. "Most of Largo doesn't have HOAs. So, locals can decorate or change their homes to give an individualistic feel to the community. And when an owner is ready to sell, they are free to rent either long- or short-term," Fulbright says. Many homes are not inside FEMA flood zones. However, the area still has a risk of hurricanes and tropical storms, which can cause subsequent flooding.
Late 20th century homes make Shadow Pines a traditional neighborhood in Largo.
