At the center of Las Vegas’ suburban Centennial Hills neighborhood is Centennial Hills Town Center, a community with a mixture of parks, well-regarded schools and community events like farmers markets. As other Vegas suburbs like Summerlin ran out of space, developers looked to the Centennial Hills area to build new shopping and housing developments. “It’s a newer area that’s developed mostly in the last 30 years," says Chelsea Atwell, a Realtor with Realty Executives of SNV who was born and raised in Vegas. She’s specifically lived and sold homes in the Centennial Hills area for almost two decades. The neighborhood sits at an elevation of about 3,000 feet, facing the Spring Mountains to the west and the Sheep Mountains to the east. “People who live in Centennial Hills still generally say they live in Vegas,” says David Brownell, a Realtor with Brownell Team Realtors who has lived in Vegas for almost three decades. “But it’s an area that people have grown to identify as its own.”
A collection of Spanish Revival homes
The neighborhood mostly consists of one- and two-story homes with Spanish revival elements like smooth stucco exteriors and red-tile roofs. “The great thing about Centennial compared to other areas is it tends to be more bang for your buck,” Atwell says. “The houses are newer and [neighbors] have more access to outdoor recreation like biking and walking trails.” Master-planned communities like Providence and Skye Canyon are here, as are townhomes, generally ranging in price from $200,000 to $400,000. Single-family homes are priced between $300,000 and $800,000, depending on size and upkeep; some come with in-ground pools. Some properties have second-story decks and solar panels on the roofs, but all of them include small driveways and manicured front lawns.
Most homes in Centennial Hills Town Center have attached garages and desert landscaping.

Studying under the Clark County School District
The Clark County School District serves children in the neighborhood. They can attend Darnell Elementary School, which receives a B from Niche, before moving on to Edmundo Escobedo Sr. Middle School, graded C-plus. Named after a prominent Mexican-American journalist and community leader, the school has many activities like book and robotics clubs. Kids may advance to B-plus-rated Arbor View High School or Centennial Hills High School, graded B. Both schools offer sports, such as bowling, flag football and golf. There are no local private schools, but places of worship include Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and Preschool, St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church and Summit Ridge Church.

Seeing wildlife at Floyd Lamb Park
The neighborhood shares its name with a nearby green space, Centennial Hills Park, which is next to the local library and has a playground, a splash pad and a trail lined with dinosaur statues. Floyd Lamb Park has wildlife like peacocks, bunnies and ducks; it surrounds Tule Springs Lake, where people can fish or dip their toes in the water during warmer months. The park hosts a farmer's market on the first and last Saturdays of each month. Nearby Mountain Ridge Park has sports fields, tennis courts and a large skatepark, and for indoor recreation, people go to the Viper Lacrosse Fields Family Sports Complex.
The public can access the 18-hole course at the Painted Desert Golf Club, about a mile south. The club is also used for weddings, parties and tournaments. Many hiking trails are nearby, like the Lone Mountain Trailhead, 7 miles away. “It’s cool because we have Red Rock nearby for hiking, and Mt. Charleston is a short drive from here, giving people forest vibes,” says Eden Vorce, a resident who grew up in the neighborhood and works at Sorry Not Sorry Creamery near Mountain Ridge Park.
Centennial Hills Park is a 120-acre state-of-the-art regional park, featuring a dog park, playgrounds, and more.

Dinners at With Love, Always
The Montecito Marketplace has a Smith’s for groceries and other retailers like TJ Maxx, Five Below and Dollar Tree. Chain restaurants are scattered throughout Centennial, including Starbucks and Popeyes. With Love, Always is a local restaurant that serves smash burgers and fries, while Sorry Not Sorry has unique ice cream flavors like honey lavender and cornbread. Shucks Tavern & Oyster Bar is a dimly lit spot where people can enjoy seafood and fried finger foods while watching sports or gambling – although residents aren’t as prone to betting as tourists. “My husband and I aren’t really gamblers; We moved here for college,” says Cassandra Mor, a Realtor with The Mor Group who has lived in the area for over two decades. “It’s a fun thing to do here and there, but it’s not very sustainable.”

Daily commutes on Bruce Woodbury Beltway
Bruce Woodbury Beltway is a major east-west highway, while Interstate 11 runs north-south throughout the city. West Centennial Parkway borders the Centennial Center shopping mall, and the Regional Transportation Commission has a public bus service, the Deuce, that reaches north and south Las Vegas and the Strip. The Harry Reid International Airport is 20 miles away. The Centennial Hills Hospital is the neighborhood medical center.
Wildfire season in the west
Las Vegas deals with poor air quality because of its topography. People can experience smog in their cars, combated by small smog check stations throughout the area. Most western states experience wildfire season, which lasts from May to October in Nevada.
