Quiet suburban living in northwest Las Vegas
Set 20 miles northwest of The Strip, suburban Elkhorn Ranch is a primarily residential Las Vegas community with close access to parks, schools and shopping centers. “It’s a nice quiet area outside of the craziness of The Strip,” says Brittany Miranda, a Realtor with Life Realty District, who has over 4 years of experience. “Homeowners take care of their property, and the streets are clean.” Many of the neighborhood’s single-family homes are within walking distance of key amenities like Betsey A. Rhodes Elementary and Sunny Springs Park. “There are tons of people out and about, walking their dogs to the park,” Miranda says. “It’s definitely family-oriented.” RTC Transit buses also stop in the neighborhood, and Interstate 11 is less than a mile away.

Within Elkhorn Ranch’s planned, sidewalk-lined subdivisions, two- to four-bedroom new traditional Spanish-style homes date to the late '90s and early 2000s. Common features of these homes include attached garages, covered patios and red clay-tiled roofs, as well as the occasional arched entryway. Home layouts range from 1,000 to 2,500 square feet, while lots range from 4,000 to 9,000 square feet; yards are gravel-packed and dotted with desert plantings like bottle palms and organ pipe cacti. Most homes here are part of local homeowners associations, whose monthly dues of about $15 to $50 go toward community upkeep. Home prices range from $350,000 to $550,000, depending on a home’s size and additional features like private pools and multi-car garages. The neighborhood's most expensive homes are found in The Preserve at Elkhorn Springs, a gated community. These ranch-style homes are larger, with layouts of 3,000 to 3,600 square feet and lots of about a quarter acre to a half-acre; prices range from $600,000 to $850,000.
