Woodcrest
Suburban Neighborhood in Las Vegas, Nevada
Clark County 89108
Coming home to Sin City
Woodcrest sits to the northwest of the Strip, so prices tend to be more favorable. “It’s more budget-friendly if you’re trying to be near the casinos,” says Nick Devitte, owner of Forever Home Realty and life-long Las Vegas resident. “There are a lot of older homes there, not a lot of new construction. It’s pretty dense, but people can still have yards.” Homes typically have Spanish-influenced features, and many have large garages so residents do not have to park outdoors on blistering summer days in the desert. A three-bedroom townhouse with a Spanish tile roof prices around $310,000, while a four-bedroom ranch-style home with Tudor accents and a fenced-in backyard starts at $450,000.Children’s Memorial Park
The southern edge of Woodcrest bumps up against Children’s Memorial Park. This green oasis in the middle of the desert features baseball fields, tennis courts, a playground and dedicated spaces for bocce and horseshoes. There is plenty of open space for dogs to run and a roller rink that hosts outdoor hockey and public sessions for the whole family.Schools in Sin City
Children in Woodcrest are zoned to attend R.E. Tobler Elementary School, which Niche gives a C-plus and offers an afterschool chess club. They then move to Irwin & Susan Molasky Junior High School, rated C, which offers elective courses in robotics and publications. They finish at Cheyenne High School, which earns a C-minus and where students can participate in a culinary arts curriculum that focuses on the principles, chemistry and techniques of food preparation.Heading to the Strip
Woodcrest is just 15 miles north of the Strip, so residents are a quick drive down Interstate 15 from world-famous venues like the Bellagio and New York-New York casinos. Concerts, stand-up comedy and indescribable acts like Cirque de Soleil and the Blue Man Group are easily within reach, as is Allegiant Stadium, current home of the Las Vegas Raiders. T-Mobile Arena is also around 15 miles from the neighborhood, so locals can head downtown to watch the Golden Knights take the ice or to catch international tours by The Rolling Stones or Billy Joel and Sting.Highway access to the Strip and the airport
Highway 95 provides locals their quickest route to the Strip, connecting them to Interstate 15 roughly 15 miles south. For those who do not want the hassle of finding parking, the 101 bus line runs down Rainbow Boulevard to Flamingo Road, where residents can catch the 202 line east and be beneath the neon lights in 90 minutes. Highway 95 and the 15 are also the easiest way to get to Harry Reid International Airport, located 17 miles from the Woodcrest neighborhood.Groceries and cuisine in Las Vegas
Woodcrest residents can head 1 mile south on Rainbow Boulevard to shop for groceries at Smith’s. Just across the street in Cheyenne Commons they will find a Walmart and an Autozone for necessities and weekend car repairs. The closest Lowe’s is 1 mile north on Torrey Pines Drive, as is DB’s Cajun Kitchen, a local favorite stop when hit with cravings for shrimp and grits or seafood boils. When wanting an upscale night out, the Strip is 15 miles down the highway and home to world-renowned cuisine. This densely-packed pocket of culinary celebrity includes Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen at Caesars Palace and Cut by Wolfgang Puck at the Palazzo.Vegas’s spectacular MountainView Hospital
Just 2 miles south of Woodcrest, MountainView Hospital has quickly become an institution of national regard. In January 2024 MountainView was named one of America’s Best 100 Hospitals by Healthgrades, an achievement that puts it in the top 2 percent of healthcare facilities nationwide. It was the only Nevada hospital to receive this designation.
