She’s sold homes across the region for nearly 15 years. “It’s gated, so the only people driving around are residents or visitors.” Residents spend a lot of time outside, getting to know one another. “It’s family-oriented,” Aldana says. “You often see people walking and kids playing.” Outside the gates are major retailers, restaurants and busy roadways. “It’s centrally located,” Aldana says. “You have close access to the Florida Turnpike, University Drive and Commercial Boulevard.”

The deep, reddish browns of terra cotta shingles bring some uniformity to the gated subdivisions of Cypress Hollow and Forest Lake Estates. However, aside from the characteristic roofing of Mediterranean housing, each house in these subdivisions was custom-built in the 1990s. Homes here measure between 2,000 and 3,500 square feet and feature at least three bedrooms, and many sell between $550,000 and $800,000. Several residences offer views of the nearby small lake, bringing values between $800,000 and $1.2 million.
