Home of Wild Turkey Distillery

Lawrenceburg offers a small-town feel with big-city access. It is best known as a key spot on the famed Kentucky Bourbon Trail, with one of the city's top employers being the Wild Turkey Distillery, an iconic American brand that has produced straight whiskey since 1940. Aside from whiskey, Lawrenceburg strongly promotes its farming culture. For the past 150 years, the town's liveliest annual event has been the Lawrenceburg Fair & Horse Show, a six-day festival that includes carnival rides and equestrian competitions. But even though it's a small farm town where dark liquor flows, the roughly 12,000 residents can commute to corporate jobs in the neighboring city of Lexington.

The median single-family home price is $275,000, which is roughly in line with the state median but below Lexington's median and the national median. Prices range from $150,000 to $500,000.
