Improvements can add value in Country Club West
Pass through the winding Euclid Avenue, past its packed collection of homes, and one corner property there has a long story to tell. This brick, contemporary-style house, part of Lawton’s Country Club West neighborhood, was rebuilt for a military family in a 2007 episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Facelifts can go a long way here, giving buyers modern perks like updated kitchens and reworked bathrooms in an established part of town, near schools, restaurants and shops. “Country Club West is a starter home neighborhood with substance," says Heaven Speirs, a local Realtor with Park Jones Realty and a Lawton native. "If someone is looking for a solid, reliable, three- to four-bedroom, two-bathroom, two-car garage house, this neighborhood is a great fit.”

Homes come with possibility and affordability
The “Extreme Makeover” home is an extreme example, a complete rebuild. But investment can be fruitful here in general. “This is the neighborhood also that investors will flip, and these houses will sell,” says local Realtor Barbara Clark of Barbara Clark Realty, who has 14 years of real estate experience. The canvases prospective buyers have to work with include quite a few midcentury ranch-style homes, many of which have garage space. But it’s common for people to convert garages into extra living space, maximizing floor plans that stretch anywhere from 800 to just over 2,000 square feet. Lots of roughly one-tenth of an acre, and sometimes a bit bigger, help create a suburban atmosphere in a neighborhood that’s almost exclusively residential. Options here sell for prices from $60,000 to $215,000 based on the condition, and just under $140,000 on average. Pricing accessibility is considered one of the area’s draws.
Common in Country Club West, ranch-style homes range from modern custom to traditional brick.

Locals can also grab a pick-me-up from Cool Vibes Vapes and More. “We offer a little bit of everything. It’s not just a vape shop,” says owner Sarah Castro. “We have artwork, a gift shop and candies from different local vendors. We make protein shakes, coffee, and vitamin-filled teas.” Junction Remix 580 is primarily a breakfast and brunch spot but also has after-hours events on Fridays. They have a live band, and it’s something for couples to do, Castro says. The restaurant is just off Cache Road, which is has an assortment of other businesses, too, including Walgreens and a Homeland grocery store. People can find more retail at the Lawton Marketplace plaza, located just under 3 miles away on 82nd Street and home to Target, Old Navy, Burlington, T.J. Maxx and more.
