In Eisenhower Village, manicured yards and smooth sidewalks line a series of spacious, winding blocks. They're ingredients to a true suburban atmosphere on Lawton's west side. "The streets are a little wider than you'll find in other parts of town, so you don't feel quite as cramped driving around," says Heaven Speirs, a local Realtor with Park Jones Realty and a Lawton native. This is a neighborhood whose properties date to multiple decades, but nearly all of them are in quality condition thanks in part to the presence of an HOA, a relative rarity in this city.

Homes available for a value
The oldest homes in Eisenhower Village were built in the 1970s, while others were completed as recently as the 2010s. Craftsman- and ranch-style options are most prevalent and most sell for between $165,000 and $220,000. Those numbers help differentiate the neighborhood from some others in this part of town, near the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. plant, one of the city’s biggest employers. "This neighborhood has easy access to Goodyear, but the average purchase price is lower than the neighborhoods right by Goodyear," Speirs says. Still, these houses average about 1,600 square feet, including garages in most cases. Lots stretch between about .15 and .20 acres.
Residents of Eisenhower Village enjoy large homes surrounded by dense old growth trees.

Eisenhower schools have a fair share of extracurricular activities
The Lawton Public Schools system earns a B overall grade on Niche. Students here attend Almor West Elementary, a B-rated school that offers extended care, before and after school. Eisenhower Middle has a B-plus grade and extracurricular opportunities there include a student council and a military child club, with Fort Sill — one of the state’s largest employers — only 7 miles away. The B-rated Eisenhower High has a JROTC program. There are more than 50 associate, bachelor and graduate programs at nearby Cameron University, too, 3 miles east. The Great Plains Technology Center is even closer, where there are high school and adult career programs in topics from carpentry to nursing. “I love that we have a tech center,” says local Realtor Barbara Clark, of Barbara Clark Realty, who has 14 years of real estate experience. “So not everyone needs to go to college. Not everyone can afford to go to college.”

Head east for community programming
Many of Lawton’s community events happen in the central and eastern parts of town — Elmer Thomas Park is the site of a couple of the biggest, about 6 miles from Eisenhower Village. It’s where the Freedom Festival is held, a two-day event the weekend ahead of the Fourth of July with live music, bounce houses, a hot dog eating contest and two fireworks shows.
