The Lawton community of Gooch Acres features a collection of single-family homes and walkable greenspaces right next to Fort Sill, the city’s largest employer. Most of the homes in this neighborhood were built in the 1960s and feature vinyl exteriors and midcentury floor plans. Many have been renovated to include modern furnishings, while others could use a little TLC. Grassy lawns and single-car garages are common. And while there are no sidewalks, car traffic is light, allowing residents to enjoy a quiet evening stroll through the streets.

The average home sale price over the past 12 months is up 3% from the previous year. “It’s not that expensive of a range for Lawton,” says Heesun Stanfield, a local Realtor with REMAX Professionals with more than 20 years of experience in the area. “It’s a comfortable price for first-time homebuyers.” Gooch Acres receives a crime score of 5, slightly higher than the national average, according to the CAP Crime Index.
