Morford Hills
Midcentury Ranch-style houses on quiet streets
Housing dates back to the 1950s, and many of the brick ranch-style homes feature midcentury flair. Colonial revivals and renovated builds can also be found scattered throughout the quiet, lightly trafficked streets. “Because most of the homes in this area were built between the 1950s and 1980s, there are many styles of siding, facades, interior layouts and more,” Speirs says. “You may see a nearly all-original house sitting next to a complete remodel, which is why pricing varies quite a bit in the area.” Prices range between $150,000 and $300,000, which is above the average for the city of Lawton. The Enclave is a gated section of the neighborhood with stately brick homes and multicar garages. Two green spaces within walking distance
Baltimore Park and Atlanta Park are two walkable green spaces in the neighborhood. Both are open and secluded, making it an ideal spot to toss a frisbee or throw the football. Elmer Thomas Park is 2.5 miles away and features multiple playgrounds and a walking path that winds around a catch-and-release lake. More outdoor fun can be found at the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge, 15 miles away. The federal preserve has miles of hiking trails that wind through ancient granite peaks and manmade lakes. Lake Lawtonka is nearby and is popular with boaters.Elmer Thomas Park lights up the holidays
Every November and December, Elmer Thomas Park is lit up during Holiday in the Park. The annual celebration features colorful light displays and ornaments across the 143-acre green space. Ice skating is popular on weekdays and weekends are filled with local ice hockey games. The event is capped off with the Holiday in the Park Parade. Additional activities include holiday concerts, hayrides, movie nights and a visit from Santa.Lawton High School is “The Home of the Champions”
The Lawton Public School District serves the neighborhood and receives a B rating on Niche. Younger students can begin their education at Pat Henry Elementary, which receives a C-plus rating and offers iPads and Chromebooks to students. Central Middle School and Lawton High School both receive a B-minus rating. Lawton High School was designated ‘The Home of Champions’ in 1962 when it won the state championship in football, baseball, basketball, track and tennis. That legacy of winning has continued with the numerous United States Academic Decathlon State Championships as recently as 2016. Cameron University is under 2 miles away and offers multiple graduate and undergraduate degree programs.Popular restaurants along Cache Road
Homeowners are close to one of the busier commercial areas of Lawton. “The neighborhood sits right behind one of the bustling parts of Cache Road, so residents can pop into a store or restaurant in a matter of minutes,” Speirs says. S&B’s Burger Joint is a popular eatery here, serving up tasty cheeseburgers and shakes. Down the street, Firo Fire Kissed Pizza features a menu of build-your-own brick oven pizzas and homemade gelato. Home Depot and Lowe’s Home Improvement are close by. Walmart and Sam’s Club are around a mile away.Close to Lawton’s major employers
Fort Sill and Comanche County Memorial Hospital, two significant employers in Lawton, are under 3 miles away. Downtown Lawton is 4 miles away. US Highway 62 runs parallel to the neighborhood and connects to Oklahoma City, 88 miles away. Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport is 6 miles south and offers multiple daily flights to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport via American Eagle. The Lawton Area Transit System services multiple bus stops along Cache Road.
